Carol W. (Triplett) Metheney, 92, of Byesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born on December 23, 1933, in Senecaville, the daughter of the late Earl Triplett and Iona (Finley) Triplett.

Carol worked for RCA and later for NCR in Cambridge, retiring in 1992. After retirement, she found great joy in caring for her grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply. She loved spending time with her family and took special pride in hosting holiday gatherings, creating warm memories that will be treasured for years to come.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James M. Hayes; her second husband, John Metheney; four sisters: Alberta, Ruth, Mary, and Geneva; and five brothers: Harold, Ray, Donald, Charles, and Gilbert.

Carol leaves behind two daughters: Trina (Bruce) King of New Concord and Twila (Randy) Wright of Byesville; five grandchildren: Amanda (Luke) Buday of Monticello, KY, Aaron (Nichole) King of Cambridge, Cody (Emily) Wright of Newark, Kyle Wright of Byesville, and Kayla Wright of Byesville; five great grandchildren: Alissa Buday, Addyson Buday, Alivia Buday, Blake King, and Hayden King; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held for the family with Evan. Mark Beros officiating. Burial will follow at Guernsey County Memory Gardens in Cambridge.

Kenneth “Kenny” E. Bonar, age 74, of Pleasant City, passed away Tuesday (February 10, 2026) at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 21, 1951 in Akron, son of the late William E. Bonar and Lela S. (Pile) Bonar.

Kenny was a 1970 graduate of Caldwell High School. He retired from Mahle in Caldwell.

He was a member of the Stop 9 Church of Christ in Byesville.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, woodworking, gardening, camping, but mostly spending time with family.

He lived by his favorite saying: “Every day’s a good day. Some are just better than others”.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Charles (Edith) Bonar, John Bonar, Robert (Peggy) Bonar, and Ray Bonar; his sister, Karen Mitchell; and his father-in-law, George Warner.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Audrey (Warner) Bonar, who he married on October 10, 1970; his son, Darren (Julie) Bonar; his grandchildren: Caden (Leigh) Bonar, Nathan (Hailey) Bonar, and Katelyn Bonar; his great-grandchildren: Henry, Colson, Lucy, Everleigh, and Alaina; his sisters-in-law, Kay Bonar and Ruth Bonar; his mother-in-law, Audrey Betty Warner; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday (February 14, 2026) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with his brother-in-law, George Warner, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date.

Kenny dearly loved children, so in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Stop 9 Church of Christ Youth Group (60330 Southgate Road, Byesville OH 43723).

Barbara Elaine (Greathouse) Moore, 76, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (February 6, 2026) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

She was born August 24, 1949 in Fort Knox KY, daughter of the late Ray Greathouse and Carolyn (Young) Pavlik. Barbara had worked at Ames Plastics for several years until the factory’s closing.

She loved reading and shopping, especially for jewelry, shoes, and purses. Above all else, Barbara cherished spending time with her family and her dog, Wags.

She was a member of the Cambridge VFW Post #2901.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Moore; her stepfather, George Pavlik; her stepmother, Bonnie Greathouse; a son, Thomas “Danny” Moore; and a grandson, Adrian S. Jackson.

Barbara is survived by her children: Misty (& Robin) Masters of Byesville and Stephen (& Heather) Moore of Cambridge; a daughter-in-law, Missy Moore of Cambridge; seven grandchildren: Anthony Jackson, Aaron (& Bri) Jackson, Autumn Jackson (Ray Garrison), Quentin Moore (Alexa Weber), Seth Moore, and Danielle Moore; a step-granddaughter, Courtney Masters; sixteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, David (& Marvetta) Greathouse of Clarksville TN, Thomas (& Melody) Greathouse of Cambridge, Cathy (& John) Davis of Columbus, Traci (& David) Mitchell of Cambridge, and Deborah Cannon of Radcliff KY; and several nieces & nephews.

Lee Roy Corder, Jr., age 59, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away leaving behind a legacy of educational leadership, community service, and a passion for bringing people together through the art of barbecue.

Born on November 29, 1966, in Cambridge, Ohio, Lee was the son of the late Lee Roy Corder Sr. and Mary (Mathews) Corder. His journey in education began at Ohio University, where he earned his B.S. in Education and later a Master’s in Educational Leadership.

Lee’s career was marked by a deep commitment to student success. He began his teaching journey at Meadowbrook High School in Byesville before traveling west to teach on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. Upon returning to Ohio, he transitioned into administration, serving with distinction at East Clinton, Lakota Local, and Madison Local School Districts.

The cornerstone of his professional life was his 18-year tenure at Butler Tech, where he most recently served as the Director of Schools before retiring in August 2025. Beyond the hallways of his schools, Lee also served as the State Advisor for the Ohio Technology Student Association (TSA) for four years, mentoring the next generation of technical leaders.

Lee’s heart was often found in the kitchen or behind a smoker. A lifelong lover of cooking, he turned a hobby into a community staple by co-founding the CW BBQ food truck with his close friend, Joe Workman. He was most at home operating his 84-inch Lang smoker, perfecting his brisket, and serving others—whether it was the local fire department or classmates at a reunion. To Lee, food was more than a meal; it was a way to show love and build community.

Lee shared 27 loving years of marriage with his wife, Carrie (Windau) Corder, whom he married on November 21, 1998. Together, they had two wonderful daughters and built a life centered on family and service.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Corder; his daughters: Grace Corder and Lillian (Logan) Plaugher; his brothers: David Corder of Lore City and Jeff Wagner of Zanesville; his parents-in-law, Michael and Susan Windau; his sister-in-law, Linsey (Matt) Hail; and his nephews: Ben and Beau Hail.

The Corder family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to nurses Elisabeth and Megan, Dr. Zang, Dr. Long, as well as the entire staff at The Christ Hospital Oncology ~ Montgomery. The kindness, patience, and patient-focused care provided by the Christ Hospital system were a source of great comfort during a difficult time.

Per Lee’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A celebration of his life will be held at Lori’s Road House located at 4924 Union Centre Pavilion Suite B, West Chester Township, OH 45069 on Saturday, February 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 with a Remembrance Gathering beginning at 1:30.

Eber “Bub” S. Harper, 94, of Pleasant City, passed on to his Heavenly home on Monday (February 2, 2026) surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 26, 1931 in Guernsey County, son of the late Jesse Harper and Etta Mae (Moorehead) Harper.

Eber retired from RCA/NCR. He also did electrical work and remodeling jobs whenever he could. He loved carpentry work.

He was a member of the Zanesville Bible Methodist Church.

Eber enjoyed camping and vacationing all across the country with family. He also loved gardening and going fishing. He cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy-five years, Edith Evelyn (Weaver) Harper, who passed away February 19, 2024. They were married on November 26, 1948. Also deceased is a daughter, Bonnie Jean Combs; two grandsons, James Dodd and Jason Dudley; a great-grandson, Kegon Seymour; and his siblings, Oran Ray Harper, Donald Harper, Kathren Tillett, Irene Wisenbarger, Annabell Smith, and Wanda June Callihan.

Eber is survived by three sons, Garland (Kathy) Harper of Pleasant City, Jeff (Leah) Harper of Lancaster, and Brian Harper of Cumberland; two daughters, Trenda (Larry) Bethel of Old Washington and Becky Dudley of Pleasant City; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren plus one more on the way; a son-in-law, Tom Combs of Pleasant City; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday (February 9, 2026) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Titus Byer and Pastor Bill Blair officiating.

Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery.

James “Jim” Leroy Scott, 80, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at AlterCare of Cambridge.

He was born on October 8, 1945, in Caldwell, the son of the late Donna (Baker) Easterday and Carlos Easterday.

A 1963 graduate of Byesville High School, Jim spent many years working at NCR in computer programming. After NCR moved away from Cambridge, Jim took a position as a programmer with the Department of Rehab and Corrections.

Jim was a proud US Army veteran.

He has been a member of the Stop 9 Church of Christ since 1968.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Bettinger) Scott, who passed away on March 25, 2023. They were married on August 2, 1969.

Jim is survived by two sons, Brian (Missy) Scott and Barry (Jess) Scott; a daughter, Karen (Tim) West; a brother, Robert (Linda) Scott; his grandchildren, Cole Scott, Brett (Kaylynn) Scott, Katarina (Josh) Moore, Dalton West, Desiree Scott, and Danielle Scott; a great-grandchild, Kinsley Moore; a sister-in-law, Shila Bettinger; a brother-in-law, William (Laura) Bond; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Evan. Woody Biggs officiating.

Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

Mary Elizabeth (Mercer) Potts of Salesville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Mary was born on January 29, 1944 in Zanesville, Ohio to Cecil and Rachel (Pletcher) Mercer. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1962. She met her future husband, Donald “Luke” Potts, while working in Akron. They were married on February 6, 1965. They started their life together farming and raising beef cattle. Mary attended college in Zanesville for a Bachelor’s Degree in education and then earned a Master’s Degree at Ohio University.

She began teaching 6th grade at Senecaville Elementary in 1967. She also taught kindergarten at Lore City and Buffalo. She continued teaching kindergarten at Brook Elementary until her retirement in 1998. She missed teaching and working with children so she came out of retirement to teach at Holy Trinity and Community Christian School.

She was a member and Sunday School teacher of the Four Mile Hill Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Lore City and Secretary of the Senecaville Alumni Association for several years.

Mary was a gentle soul. She loved teaching and helping students. She touched so many lives in the 35 years as an educator. She was a strong Christian woman with a deep faith. Mary treated others with the utmost respect, consideration, and kindness. She never complained, no matter how difficult life could be at times. She will be greatly missed by so many who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Luke” Potts; her son, Joe Potts; her daughter-in-law, Sherri Potts; and brothers Jim Bradley and Roger Pletcher.

She is survived by her children, Eddie Potts, John (Sonja) Potts, Jason Isom, and Susan (Bill) Saintenoy; daughter-in-law, Diane Potts; sisters, Betty (Roy) Sinift, Cindy (Marvin) Miller, and Robin (Bud) Brooks; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (February 3, 2026) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Perry Baranich officiating.

Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery.

Alberta M. Cubbison, 90, of Derwent, passed away Monday (January 26, 2026) at AlterCare of Cambridge.

She was born October 11, 1935 in Derwent, daughter of the late John Cubbison and Alva (McCoy) Cubbison.

A 1953 graduate of Buffalo High School, Alberta retired from NCR where she had been an assembly line worker for many years.

She was a member of the Derwent United Methodist Church and WSCS.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert, Hearl, John, and Cecil Cubbison.

Alberta is survived by her sister, Doris (& William) Bowman of Avondale AZ; her brother, Charles William “Bill” (& Patty) Cubbison of Columbus; and several nieces & nephews.

Darlene Myrel Richards (Tempest) of Cambridge, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Cambridge Place after spending the day surrounded by loved ones.

Darlene was born on April 16, 1945, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania to Harold Lynn and Lela Myrel Tempest. Darlene had four siblings, older brother Harold Dean Lynn, younger twin sisters Joan Lynn Tempest Trunzo and Jean Noel Tempest, and younger brother Brian Jack Tempest. Growing up, Darlene enjoyed playing in the neighborhood with her friends and siblings and attending tap, jazz and ballet classes at a local dance school. Darlene attended Monongahela High School where she excelled academically, graduating with top honors, and was a top-chair clarinet player in the band.

Darlene attended California University of Pennsylvania where she earned a 4-year bachelor’s degree in mathematics in only 2 years, graduating with high honors. Darlene began her teaching career at Monongahela Junior High School.

On June 10, 1967, Darlene was joined in marriage to Hayden Elden Richards at First Presbyterian Church in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. They were married for 55 years. While raising her two children, Darla Kristine and Hyden Darren Richards, Darlene earned a master’s degree in special education and began the next phase of her career as a special education teacher at the Cambridge Mental Health and Developmental Center. She helped many young adults with mental health issues obtain their GEDs. During that time, she also tutored many local kids in math, helping them pass their classes or prepare for the ACT/SAT exam.

Later in her career, Darlene became one of the most popular algebra professors at Zane State College. Her classes filled quickly due to her thorough, detailed teaching style and care for her students’ understanding and success. She was known for reaching out to struggling students, tutoring them on her own time out of the goodness of her heart.

After retirement, Darlene enjoyed long walks, dancing, Zumba classes, and spending time with her grandchildren as well as traveling to places such as Japan, California, Florida, and the Great Smoky Mountains. Darlene was a loving, attentive, dedicated, selfless spouse, mother, friend, coworker, and teacher who touched everyone she met with her warmth and kindness.

In addition to her parents, Darlene is predeceased by her husband, Hayden; and brother, Harold.

Darlene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darla Kristine and John Cornelius Finnucan IV of San Pedro, California; son and daughter-in-law, Hayden Darren and Amy Sue Clark Richards of Lore City, Ohio; six grandchildren, John Cornelius Finnucan V of Fullerton, California, Jacob Thomas Finnucan and his wife Jacqueline Bernadette Tremblay Finnucan of Bismarck, North Dakota, Kayla Dawn Richards of Byesville, Ohio, twins Ava Elizabeth and Alexander James Finnucan of San Pedro, California, Hayden Darren Richards Jr. of Lore City, Ohio and great grandson Carter Jude Finnucan of Bismarck, North Dakota. Darlene is also survived by her three younger siblings, Joan Lynn Tempest Trunzo of New Eagle, Pennsylvania, Jean Noel Tempest of Land O’Lakes, Florida, and Brian Jack Tempest of Monongahela, Pennsylvania.

A special thank you to everyone who visited or called Darlene to let her hear your voices in her final hours. You brought her warmth and comfort. She left this life knowing she was dearly loved.

**ANOTHER UPDATE DUE TO OUR WINTER STORM - PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION.**

Patricia Dyer, 84, of Kissimmee FL and formerly of Byesville, passed away Monday (January 19, 2026) at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, Kissimmee FL.

Patricia, born October 2, 1941, in Byesville, Ohio, was the youngest of eight children born to John and Martha Syme, who preceded her in death.

On July 22, 1961, Patricia married the love of her life, Carl Dyer. Together they shared 64 years of marriage devoted to faith, family, and service to others.

Patricia’s greatest joy was her family, which was always her first priority. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who spent countless hours caring for her family and being present whenever she was needed.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Dyer; her two children, Carla (Jon) Reed and Chris (Ellie) Dyer; eight grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Patricia was a devoted member of Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida, where she faithfully served for many years. Her commitment to service continued after retirement, when she and Carl spent seven years traveling across the country in their RV, helping to build churches, youth centers, and colleges and universities.

After their travels, Patricia and Carl made their home in Florida, where she treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Gary E. Grimes, 90, of Senecaville, passed away Tuesday (January 20, 2026) at his home.

He was born April 26, 1935 in Fairview, son of the late Charles Grimes and Wilma (Hayes) Grimes.

Gary retired from AEP – Central Ohio Coal where he had worked as a general foreman for twenty-seven years. Gary was also a dozer operator and worked with the crew responsible for building the interstate through the local area.

He loved to golf, play cards, and play the guitar. He enjoyed running his dozer whenever he could. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Gary was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Buffalo VFW Post 8040.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. (Phillips) Grimes, who passed away March 30, 2023; his sisters, Shirley Miller and Arlene Watson; his brothers, Stanley, David, John, and Steve Grimes; and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Johnson.

Gary is survived by two sons, Charles J.
