Mailing Address: PO Box 311, Andover NJ 07821

The Lakeland Emergency Squad proudly serves Andover Borough and Byram Township. The Emergency Squad currently operates 4 NJ OEMS licensed ambulances as well as a Special Services Unit out of our two stations. The Byram Building is located on Route 206 just South of Cranberry Lake. Our first due coverage area is approximately 50 square miles of southern Sussex County, where over 15,000 people reside, about 10% of the County’s population. We provide mutual aid to the surrounding towns including Newton, Stanhope, Netcong, Hopatcong, Lafayette, Mount Olive, Green, Allamuchy, and Sparta. The Squad responds to a wide range of incidents including medical emergencies, fire calls, and motor vehicle accidents and also provides standby support to local youth sporting events, mountain biking competitions, and events at Waterloo Village. Residents of Andover Boro and Byram Township are always invited to volunteer with the Squad, and we have several membership options to choose from.

🚑 This Giving Tuesday, support Lakeland Emergency Squad!

Since 1939, our volunteers have been dedicated to providing the highest standard of pre-hospital medical care to our community — and thanks to your support, we continue to grow, improve, and expand what we’re able to offer.

Recently, Lakeland EMS implemented new expanded scope of practice protocols, allowing our EMTs to perform blood glucometry, administer nebulized albuterol for respiratory emergencies, and enhance care for patients experiencing conditions like stroke symptoms, syncope, altered levels of consciousness, asthma, and more. These advancements help us deliver the right care faster — long before patients reach the hospital.

Your donations directly support:
✨ Upgraded medical equipment
✨ Expanded clinical capabilities
✨ Training and certifications for our EMTs
✨ Maintaining our ambulances and lifesaving supplies
✨ Continuing our 85+ year mission of community service

As a 501(c)3 department, we rely on the generosity of our community to stay mission-ready, 24/7.

❤️ If Lakeland EMS has ever helped you or someone you love — or if you simply want to support the people who respond when it matters most — please consider donating this Giving Tuesday.

🚑 We are extremely proud to announce that as of 05:00 this morning Lakeland EMS has gone live with additional expanded scope of practice protocols to now include blood glucometry and albuterol in cooperation with our Medical Director, Dr. Matt Letizia, and as per the NJOEMS guidelines for BLS ambulance services.

What this means for you is that Lakeland ambulances continue to provide the latest in pre-hospital patient care measures, adding these new standards of care to our existing expanded scope protocols like CPAP.

Blood glucose levels are able to be obtained by our EMTs on patients with an altered level of consciousness, syncope, near syncope,
symptoms of stroke, seizure and/or history of diabetes to help ensure that we are delivering the most appropriate treatments before arrival at definitive care. Additionally, our EMTs now have access to carry and administer nebulized albuterol for certain types of respiratory emergencies including asthma and other chronic conditions.

As many inquiries have come in, we wanted to let you know that first and foremost our crew is safe. Shortly after noon today, BLS 4351 was dispatched to a reported jackknifed tractor trailer with unknown injuries on Interstate 80 Westbound in the area of Exit 19. During the response, our ambulance was struck by another vehicle impacting near the driver’s door. This comes in the wake of too many other very tragic events on the Interstate lately. Please, please, please don’t rush and always ensure that emergency and service vehicles have the right of way and appropriate room to work. We’re thankful everyone came home safely today, and appreciative of everyone who has reached out to check on us.
