Wanted to remind everyone that the Senior Line 89 bus route goes down South Pine in front of the daycare entrance. The buses will leave the high school on Friday morning at 8:30. The traffic on this side of town will be heavier on Friday morning!

Important Update: 1-Hour Delay for Monday, April 7th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to provide you with an important update regarding school operations for tomorrow, Monday, April 7th .

While much of our area has seen improvements, some outlying areas in our district remain impacted by flooding. Water continues to recede, and we will be able to open schools with a 1-hour delayed start.

Key Information:

*All schools will open with a 1-hour delay.

*Student drop-off may begin at 8:15 a.m.

*Buses will run exactly 1 hour later than their normal departure times.

*Classes will begin 1 hour later than the regular schedule.

Due to ongoing road closures and high water in some areas, our transportation team will be adjusting bus routes to include new turnaround locations. The 1-hour delay will provide additional daylight for our drivers to safely navigate these changes and ensure they can make necessary adjustments as they begin morning pickups.

We are including the most updated list of road closures from the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office and the City of Cabot below. Please note that our buses will not be able to travel along these routes.

If you live in one of these affected areas:

*Please make arrangements to meet the bus at a safe, designated location, if possible.

*If it is not safe for your child to travel, please notify your school office between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. with your child’s name and address. The absence will be excused.

*Graham between Elmore and Hwy 89

*Graham between Kerr Station and Mooney

*Kerr Station between Hwy 294 and Graham

*Kerr Station at Campground Rd – closed due to failing culvert (City of Cabot)

*Redwine between Hwy 15 and Hwy 31

Due to incoming storms, we will be closing at 3:00pm today to ensure that all children and staff can make it home safely. We WILL be picking children up from school at 1:30 dismissal time!

Weather Advisory & Early Dismissal Notice

The National Weather Service in North Little Rock has advised us this morning that rain may begin as early as 3:00 p.m., with anticipated heavy thunderstorms between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Storm chances are expected to continue into the evening.

When making decisions that impact our students and staff, we rely on the expertise of weather professionals.

Due to this forecast, we have two primary concerns:

We transport over 6,000 students on buses each afternoon, with the last students typically dropped off around 4:50 p.m.—right during the projected peak of the storm.

We have over 800 student drivers parked on our campuses, and we would prefer they be safely at home before the storms arrive.

To prioritize student safety, the district has made the decision to err on the side of caution. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we work to ensure the well-being of our students and staff.

As a result, the Cabot School District will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.
