🌙 World Sleep Day: Why Quality Sleep Matters
In honor of World Sleep Day, we’re highlighting the importance of healthy sleep. One condition that can significantly disrupt sleep is sleep apnea—a disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep.
There are three main types:
• Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): the most common, caused by airway blockage when throat muscles relax.
• Central Sleep Apnea: occurs when the brain doesn’t send proper breathing signals.
• Complex Sleep Apnea: a combination that can develop during treatment for obstructive sleep apnea.
Common symptoms include: loud snoring, gasping during sleep, morning headaches, dry mouth, and excessive daytime fatigue.
Sleep apnea can increase the risk of serious health issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, but it can often be diagnosed through a sleep study and treated with a CPAP device that keeps the airway open during sleep.
💙 Prioritizing sleep is prioritizing your health.
