*Massage is a “hands on” treatment where the therapist manipulates muscles, and other soft tissues of the body to promote health and well being.

*Massage does so much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues, the muscles, tendons, and ligaments to improve muscle tone.

*Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

*Massage is also believed to support healing by reducing recovery time after an injury, help with pain, enhance relaxation, and boost energy.

*Massage is great for many musculoskeletal problems, such as low back, arthritis, fibromyalgia, sprains and strains.

“Why am I told to drink water after every massage?”

Many massage therapists including myself will try and tell you to drink lots of water after your treatment. There are a few reasons for this!

Massage increases the circulation of both the blood and the lymphatic system. Working out the tension in the muscles releases metabolic waste. That increased circulation and the muscle kneading promotes the pumping of fluid out of the soft tissue into the circulatory system, where it heads to the kidneys to be flushed from the body.

Drinking water supports the elimination of waste from the body, aids in healthy circulation, and helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and organs.

Well, now you know! Maybe next time you will take my advice and drink some water. 💧

Monday morning must haves for your favorite massage therapist

- COFFEE (had 20oz of water first so don’t even think about coming at me when I know I’m probably already ahead of many of you on that one)

-CLEAN LAUNDRY (seriously as a massage therapist I have a constant running washing machine but I really really love to have at least all business laundry done and ready to go Monday mornings)

-CAT CUDDLES (if he wants them or not)

-WATER FITNESS (did you know that I not only do massage but I teach water fitness over at the YMCA? And I love it been part of my Monday mornings for over 11 years now)

- SMILING 🙂 (seriously it’s kind of my thing… and slightly contagious with the side effect of laughter as well)

What are YOUR Monday must haves?

I knew there were reasons I didn’t like bird sounds playing in my music! Lol

Doing my best to keep up. Please be patient with me. I am a solo therapist. I truly love my job and want to help everyone I can however I am still only one person. I am currently completely booked until March. Running purely on cancellations at this time. If you are a current client looking to schedule, my advice to you would be book the March appointment and get on the cancellation list. This is the time of year where colds and constant weather changes are going around and people are having to cancel so you never know. Thank you for trusting me as your massage therapist I am truly grateful to you all. ~Shanna
