You are invited! Chris Trondsen, LMFT, a clinician with OCD, and his mom, Liz Trondsen, are excited to remind you about our March, virtual, free Family and Loved Ones OCD Support Group.

It will be held this Saturday, March 14 for two hours, from 11 AM – 1 PM PST.

Brooke Miller will be joining us to discuss her life experience as a person with OCD. Email info@ocdsocal.org to request the Zoom link and visit www.ocdsocal.org for more information!

She has lived with OCD since childhood and has experienced multiple subtypes, including contamination, perfectionism, moral scrupulosity, and relationship OCD. Her journey has included ERP treatment, eating disorder recovery, and navigating additional diagnoses like panic disorder, Bipolar II, and PTSD.

She is a parent of two children with OCD, her 13-year-old son (also diagnosed with PANDAS) and her 11-year-old daughter who was recently diagnosed. She speaks from both lived experience and the ongoing reality of parenting kids with OCD.

She is a registered nurse, an International OCD Foundation Advocate, President of OCD Wisconsin, and a presenter with NAMI’s Ending the Silence program.

She would like to discuss these topics:

– What OCD can actually look like in kids (beyond stereotypes)
– Parenting a child with OCD while also managing your own OCD
– How to support kids through ERP (and manage accommodations vs. support)
– Navigating school, family dynamics, and daily life with OCD
– The emotional impact on parents/caregivers (guilt, fear, burnout)
– Hope and recovery and what progress really looks like

Please join us this Saturday for a wealth of information on both living with OCD and parenting children with OCD!

We will see you this Saturday, March 14th from 11 AM -1 PM PST! 👋🏼

The event is open to loved ones, family members and spouses of someone with OCD, as well as people with OCD—or anyone else interested. Email info@ocdsocal.org to request the Zoom link and visit www.ocdsocal.org for more information!

Struggling with sleep because OCD or anxiety won’t turn off at night? 🤔

Many people with OCD experience racing thoughts, rumination, or anxiety that makes it hard to fall asleep or return to sleep after waking. This workshop focuses on practical ways to respond differently to nighttime anxiety and build healthier sleep patterns.

Starting April 14, Sue Chudy, LCSW, OCD specialist and board member of OCD SoCal — will be hosting a 5 week Sleep & OCD/Anxiety Workshop open to adults in any state.

Participants will learn:
• Why OCD and anxiety often ramp up at night
• How rumination and mental compulsions keep sleep problems going
• Practical tools from ERP, ACT and CBT-I to respond to nighttime anxiety

Special guest in Week 2: Psychiatrist Dr. Khashayar Nattagh will join to discuss the medical perspective on sleep and OCD, including how medication management can support treatment.

If sleep has become one of the hardest parts of living with OCD or anxiety, this workshop is designed to help. Email Sue at suechudylcsw@gmail.com to register or with any questions. 😊

THE TIBERGS: “THE LESSONS WE’VE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY” AT THIS SATURDAY, FEB. 14TH’S FAMILY & LOVED ONE’S OCD SUPPORT GROUP!

Chris Trondsen, LMFT, a clinician with OCD, and his mom, Liz Trondsen, are excited to remind you about our February, virtual, free Family and Loved Ones OCD Support Group.

It will be held this Saturday, February 14 for two hours, from 11 AM – 1 PM PST. To receive the Zoom link for this support group, please email info@ocdsocal.org.

We are excited to announce that we are going back to basics and have invited a family to discuss their OCD journey. Dianne and her husband, Matt Tiberg are parents of a teenage daughter. Their daughter suffers from OCD, as well as emetophobia (fear of throwing up). Dianne and Matt will discuss what they did as parents when symptoms first appeared, how they helped their daughter navigate treatment, and their new role now that their daughter is doing well.

They will share with you what they did right and what mistakes they made in an effort to help you navigate supporting a loved one with OCD.

The Tibergs will also address the sudden onset of their daughter’s OCD from a PANS / PANDAS infection.

By attending this support group, you will feel a sense of hope and recognize you are not alone in this journey. Come and learn from a family that has successfully traveled this road.

The first hour will be dedicated to hearing their remarkable recovery journey. The second hour will be an open Q&A session where anyone can ask questions. You do not want to miss February’s support group!

We will see you this Sat, February 14th from 11 AM -1 PM PST!

The event is open to loved ones, family members and spouses of someone with OCD, as well as people with OCD—or anyone else interested. Anyone from anywhere can join!

In order to foster a safe community, we do not record the support group. This allows attendees the opportunity to share their experiences and ask questions in a safe space. We encourage you to attend or listen in to the support group live on Saturday.

To receive the Zoom link for this support group, please email info@ocdsocal.org.

Every second Saturday of the month, from 11am to 1pm PST, board members Chris Trondsen, LMFT, and Liz Trondsen host a virtual, free, Family & Loved Ones OCD Support Group.

Learn about this Saturday’s support group below including how to join!

To join, simply email info@ocdsocal.org and ask for this Saturday’s Zoom link!

Title: An OCD Master Class: Family & Loved Ones’ Edition

The opening discussion is led by Lauren Rosen, LMFT, the author of the upcoming “The Mental Compulsions Workbook for OCD.” Additionally, we will be joined by USC Psychiatrist and researcher, Adam Frank, Ph.D., MD. These two special guests will lend their expertise to lead a complete master class on OCD.

The opening discussion will incorporate key OCD topics that include: what to do if your loved one has stubborn or difficult to treat OCD, how your loved one can get better if their OCD is predominantly mental, expectations on improvement during different stages of OCD treatment, how to find scientific-based resources for OCD, how one gets better from OCD, and what should family members and loved ones do or don’t do to make your loved one’s recovery more likely. Additional topics include a discussion on frontline medications for OCD treatment, what to expect regarding side effects and improvements, and a discussion on additional interventions that include TMS, ketamine, deep brain stimulation, and psychedelics.

We will then dedicate the second half to answering your specific questions that remain after the open discussion, either on what was discussed earlier or your personal situation.

Do not miss the final group of 2025! The event is on Saturday, December 13th from 11AM – 1 PM PST.

Email info@ocdsocal.org to request the support group’s Zoom link and we’ll see you Saturday! 👋🏼

On behalf of the OCD SoCal Board of Directors, thank you to everyone who supported our recent Online OCD Conference! 🙏🏼

This event came about because we wanted to offer a low-cost, global conference to help clinicians earn their needed CEs, and for people with OCD and their loved ones to attend a low-cost conference with leading experts and top-notch presentations.

We were able to register over 1,355 people and give out 100+ scholarships so that cost wasn’t a factor.

If you were a speaker, we already sent out a direct thank you, but just a quick public thank you for lending your time. If you attended, we hope it met your expectations, that you learned a great deal, and that you enjoyed the event as well. We hope that you and those with whom you shared the conference also enjoyed it, and we were honored to offer our community the event.

If you want to watch the presentation recordings, log back into the conference site www.onlineocdconference2025.com and click the “Session Recordings” tab. All recordings have been added and are ready to watch!

Thank you again to everybody who supported us, and we look forward to putting on the conference again next year! 👋🏼
