The cost of pretty privilege after 40 that nobody warns you about.

It's the friend who stopped inviting you to things after you lost weight.

It's the woman at school who's warm to you when you show up in sweats and distant when you show up done to the nines.

It's your own mother telling you you're spending too much time on yourself.

It's the look you get from other women at dinner that you can't quite name but you can definitely feel.

It's walking into a room and knowing that half the women in it decided something about you before you opened your mouth.

And you can't talk about it.

Because the second you do, you sound like the most insufferable person alive.

So you don't say it. You just notice it. Quietly. For years.

This episode is for every woman who noticed and never said a word.

At 25, I was pretty.

At 48, I'm intentional.

And intentional will always be more powerful than pretty, because pretty fades and you have zero say in it.

Intentional is a choice you make every single morning with your eyes open.

I didn't have pretty privilege handed to me at 48.

I built it. With 40 years of effort, a skincare company, and more money than I'd like to admit.

But the version you build is always stronger than the version you're given.

The person guiding your CO2/Erbium laser recovery matters just as much as the person holding the laser.

And I learned that the expensive way... I loved my results.

Genuinely the best of any treatment I’ve had, but my provider (or really the staff) treated the aftercare like an afterthought, and it made the whole recovery harder than it needed to be.

If your provider can’t walk you through a written recovery protocol with specific products at each stage, scheduled follow-ups, and an emergency contact before you’re even on the table, pay attention to that, because the aftercare is half the outcome.

I wrote the full CO2/Erbium laser story with my recovery process and tips and exactly what to look for before you book.

The women who judge you the hardest for looking good after 40?

It's not the women who genuinely don't care about this stuff.

Those women are fine. They made their choice, they're at peace with it, they're living their life.

The judgment comes from the women who WANT what you have but decided they can't have it.

Or shouldn't have it.

Or that wanting it makes them shallow.

And when they see you... living proof that it's possible at 48, still in the game, still putting in the effort...

That's a mirror.

And mirrors can be uncomfortable.

second I started investing in the way I looked, people started saying

"You looked so pretty. Why don't you take your hair down? Why don't you wear your makeup all the time?"

And that's when I knew.

I was twelve years old and I already knew pretty privilege was real.

Not because I read it somewhere.

Not because someone told me.

Because I tested it.

I ran the experiment and I got the data back.

And the data was clear.

That was the first data point.

I've been collecting them for 36 years since.

At 25, pretty privilege was a gift. Nobody asked where I got it. Nobody questioned it. Nobody had opinions about it.

At 48, pretty privilege is a choice. A very visible, very expensive, very intentional choice.

And the second it becomes a choice, everybody has something to say about it.

“She’s had work done.”

“She’s trying too hard.”

“Who is she doing that for?”

“She should just age gracefully.”

You know what age gracefully means? It means disappear quietly. It means stop taking up space.

It means be grateful for what you had and stop asking for more.

I am not built for that. I was never built for that.

Pretty privilege at 25 is like having a winning lottery ticket. You were born with it, you cashed in, congratulations.

Pretty privilege at 48 is a business plan.

You studied the market, you invested the capital, you put in the hours, and you built something with your own hands.

One of those is luck. The other is strategy.

And somehow... the strategy is the one that makes people uncomfortable.

A 25-year-old walks into a room looking incredible and nobody blinks.

A 48-year-old walks into a room looking incredible and everybody wants to know what she had done.

Like it's a crime scene.

Like looking good after 40 requires an investigation.

I did not commit a crime.

I committed to a skincare routine. (Although my credit card statement might disagree.)

I’m happy to say my skin is finally bouncing back.

I’ve been sitting on this story for a while because I wanted to wait until I could tell you the whole thing.

Including the parts that didn’t go the way I wanted.

Comment LASER and I’ll send over the free guide!

In early December I got a Fractional CO2 and Erbium combo laser.

I did it because I wanted to tighten my skin.

I was trying to stave off a facelift as long as possible and hoping to avoid an upper blepharoplasty.

I’m thrilled to say it worked.

On my face, the results are the most significant of any treatment I’ve ever had.

I successfully avoided the upper bleph.

I am genuinely so happy with what I’m seeing.

But the recovery?

That is a whole conversation.

And I have the photos to prove it (I won’t share them for your sake).

I haven’t talked about this anywhere yet. So I wanted to finally tell you all of it.

I’m sharing the full CO2 experience from December through right now at four months out.

The products I used to rebuild my barrier (starting with my own serum, which was the first thing back on my face).

The one area I’m not happy with, and the aftercare reality that made me realize not all providers are equal.

Comment LASER and I’ll send it to you.
