If you saw my reel on Friday, you know I was upset.
This is the post I was talking about.
New visa guidelines now allow the US to deny residency based on weight.
Yes… weight.
When I read this, my stomach dropped. This is not health policy. This is discrimination dressed up as “criteria.” And it echoes something we have seen before in the darkest chapters of our history.
Remember the words on the Statue of Liberty:
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
What does that even mean now?
Are we adding an asterisk?
“Unless you’re fat.”
The justification is that larger bodies “drain resources.”
So what does that say about people like me who already live here?
About millions of us?
Are we drains too?
Less welcome?
Less worthy?
This is weight stigma written into policy.
And if we’ve learned anything from history, it’s that this kind of thinking does not stay contained.
We should all be paying attention.
If this hits you, if it scares you, if it pi**es you off — share it.
We cannot be quiet about this.
