We get asked all the time: what’s your go-to antihistamine and should parents still be reaching for Benadryl or switching to options like Zyrtec or Allegra? With fall allergies in full swing, we figured it was the perfect time to break down the differences.

Non-sedating antihistamines like Zyrtec have become the preferred choice for everyday allergic symptoms because they work just as well with a reduced risk of the drowsiness or jittery side effects Benadryl can cause.

Every child and situation is a little different, so if you’re not sure which medication is the safest and most effective for your kiddo, check in with your pediatrician or pediatric allergist.

SELF-SCHEDULING IS HERE 🎉 Our soft-launch of Saturday self-scheduling was such a success that we are excited to announce that you can now self-schedule for all sick/injury visits Monday-Saturday via our patient portal. You can schedule for either same-day appointments or for appointments up to 3 days in advance. Please note that all other non-sick/injury visits must still be scheduled over the phone or in-person.

We hope this makes managing your child’s care more convenient and avoids long wait times on the phone! See you in the office 💙

🎃 Have you seen teal pumpkins popping up around your neighborhood? In preparation for Halloween next week, we wanted to spotlight an important initiative called The Teal Pumpkin Project.

🩵 The Teal Pumpkin Project is a Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) initiative that promotes a safe Halloween for children with food allergies by encouraging households to offer non-food treats like stickers, bubbles, or glow sticks on Halloween night.

🩵 This small gesture makes a big difference for families navigating allergies. Add a teal pumpkin to your porch this year and help make Halloween safe and fun for every child!

Trampoline parks can be a great way for kids to burn energy and have fun — but they’re also one of the top causes of orthopedic injuries in children, especially during school breaks and weekends. 🤕

Before you head out to jump, keep these safety reminders in mind:
💡 One jumper per trampoline: Most injuries happen when multiple kids share the same trampoline — even when they’re just “bouncing together.”
🧦 Use grip socks: They help prevent slips and provide better traction.
🚫 No flips or stunts: Even experienced jumpers can get hurt when landing wrong, especially on padded edges or walls.
👀 Supervise closely: Younger kids should stick to age-appropriate sections, and parents should always keep a close eye.
🏥 Know the signs of injury: Persistent pain, limping, swelling, or reluctance to bear weight after a jump should be checked out by a healthcare provider.

A little extra caution can go a long way in preventing ER visits — and keeping your child’s fun, safe. 💙
