Friendly reminder: deadlifts aren’t bounced. Every rep starts from a true dead stop. You’re welcome.

From Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training (3rd Edition):

One reason the deadlift is so brutally hard is because it begins from the bottom without the bounce that helps reverse a squat. When a bounce is used on every rep except the first, much of the lift’s training value is lost.

A major part of the deadlift’s benefit comes from resetting the spine into extension and holding it there as the pull begins. That isometric effort—keeping the spine rigid for efficient force transfer—is a significant part of the work and one of the key training benefits of the deadlift.

A set where only the first rep starts from a dead stop and the rest are bounced isn’t really a set of deadlifts. It’s one deadlift followed by a set of RDLs. Training this way prevents you from developing the strength needed to maintain proper lumbar position under heavy load, because most of the set relies on plate rebound and stored elastic energy instead of true dead-stop strength.

Bouncing reps also makes it harder to fix back position issues. Once rounding starts, it tends to stay—or get worse—unless you fully reset between reps.
