This longitudinal dataset suggests it starts decades earlier.

In a 47 year follow up of 427 adults, physical capacity peaked before about 36 and then declined progressively, accelerating after about 40.
Average loss from peak to 63 was about 37% (30 to 48%).

The takeaway isn’t fear, it’s strategy:
Build and maintain strength
Train your aerobic engine
Keep power in the program

Even participants who became active later improved across measures, about 4% to 11% depending on the test.

If you want a useful goal, don’t just lose weight.

Diet soda + dementia risk? The data suggests a link worth paying attention to. 🧠🥤

A 10-year study (947 people) found:
→ 1 diet soda/day was associated with higher dementia risk
→ More than 1/day showed an even stronger association
→ The link was strongest in people with obesity or diabetes

This doesn’t prove diet soda causes dementia — but it’s a signal to take seriously, especially if metabolic health is already a concern.

What to drink instead (easy swaps):
1) sparkling water + lemon/lime
2) mineral water (no additives)
3) sparkling water + a splash of 100% juice

Save this for later + send it to the friend who lives on Diet Coke.
