Due to June being Men’s Mental Health Month, we feel like it’s important to address the stigma around men seeking therapy before the month of over.

So many factors play a key part in how a man shows and expresses his emotions, for example: societal norm, culture, how their dad raised them, lack of father role, movies/shows, etc.
It sets the tone that men need to hold it together for everyone else.

Men usually show their emotions through anger, because they were never taught how to sit with those uncomfortable emotions. It’s always, “Stop it! Be a man!” So, men are just supposed to put their emotions and thoughts on hold or box them up? Then wonder and are baffled why men explode.

Their emotions/thoughts are often dismissed and invalidated. People think they can handle those uncomfortable emotions, or aren’t struggling because they can hide them well.

Men seeking help isn’t unmanly. It’s the complete opposite.

To brighten your Monday. ☀️

I’m sure we all feel like this at times... which is completely normal! Sam and I have to frequently to stop and ask, “What was I doing?” OR my personal favorite, which my clients hear me say all the time, “What was I doing with my life?” 🤣

Any person who feels like their ducks are in a row 100% of the time, OR you see someone who looks like they have their ducks in a row… that’s suspish. 🧐 Don’t believe them!

Just remember it’s okay to have bad days, you’ve survived 100% of them so far! 💜

Self-worth is your evaluation on yourself and how valuable or deserving you feel as a person. Many people struggle with this, but everyone always brings something to the table. You need to look for the traits in yourself that make you stand out from others.

So, Let’s put self-worth into a different perspective… even a crumpled up 20 dollar bill has worth. Just because we may have flaws doesn’t mean we don’t have any worth.

Have a great Wednesday!

Good morning!! ☀️

Topic this morning: Being kind to yourself!

Being kind to your self, and saying nice things to yourself is more important than you realize.

There have been many studies done on how positive self-talk can improve the way you live your life. 🤗

Our brain is VERY subjective, meaning it’s very influenced by emotions, opinions, and thoughts.
So, what you put in is what it beliefs.

Imagine if you replaced, “I can never do anything right,” with “I did my best! I’ll try it a different way next time.” How amazing does that sound?

We challenge you to replace one negative thought with a positive thought!
Let us know how it goes!!

We came across this app the other day, and we felt like we needed to share!

Both Sam, and I have iPhones and you can add it as a widget, and it will change throughout the day. Unsure of how it works with Androids.

We will randomly read ours to each other and it will warm your heart, make you laugh, or straight up confuse you!

Highly recommend! I’ll post one of mine in the comments!! 🤗

Choice. Chance. Change.

You wake up everyday with the chance to change whatever you want in your life. It just takes you making the choice to do so.

A lot of people think change is big events. No, it’s not. It can be something small. For example: If you feel like your in a rut, so take a different route home. Maybe, you’ll take that extra 5 minutes in the morning to journal while drinking your coffee. Decide to dress up more than you usually do. Cook a new meal.

Just do us a favor and make the change for YOU. 😊

Shame is one of the most powerful emotions, because it stems from our beliefs about ourself.

We could go on and on about shame, but these quotes really hit the nail on the head.

So, we’ll leave you with this parting thought… If you have no hope, gratitude, optimism, or self-compassion, you will be stuck in your misery. Without these things there is no change. Change is life. Change is the way our brain, body, and soul grow.

Don’t let YOU be in the way of YOUR change!

We hope you have a balanced day!

We have extreme reactions due to unprocessed memories.

Trauma doesn’t have to be something BIG, it can be something small like your stomach growling in a quiet room full of people. ANYTHING that is distressing or disturbing to you, and you wish it would have gone different. The stats behind it is, if we don’t process that event within 3 minutes it can be stored as trauma.

The brain and body are beautiful things, so treat yourself with forgiveness and kindness.

If you feel like your trauma is impacting your functioning in any way shape or form don’t feel shame for seeking help from a therapist.

Have a balanced day beautiful people!
