UPDATED OBITUARY-JERRY VANCE

Jerry Otis Vance, age 79, of Vardaman, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2026, peacefully in his home following a short illness. Born on November 22, 1946, in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Otis Vance and the late Delores Wood Vance.

Jerry was a graduate of Calhoun City High School, Class of 1964. He was an active and faithful member of College Hill Baptist Church.

An entrepreneur at heart, Jerry was always exploring new business ventures and ideas throughout his life. He genuinely loved talking with people and truly never met a stranger. Time was never his concern when engaging with others, regardless of prior commitments or where his family thought he should be. Known for marching to the beat of his own drum, Jerry lived life on his own terms and embraced every moment of it.

In his free time, Jerry found joy in camping, hunting, and good-naturedly aggravating those around him. He was also a collector in the truest sense of the word, gathering more “stuff” than most people could imagine, and somehow knowing exactly where every single piece was. He never threw anything away. As his family begins navigating his workspace, they will no doubt uncover countless treasures and stories along the way.

01/02/2026

Jeffrey Clark McGreger, affectionately known as “Bo,” passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Oxford, Mississippi. Born on March 26, 1986, in Jackson, Mississippi, Bo was loved from the beginning by his mother. The bond between them was unbreakable, filled with shared memories and laughter. Bo was known for his great sense of humor. He spent his final days finding ways to make those he loved most laugh in spite of the situation he was facing. He was also known for burning his mouth on hot food anytime it was within reach—and then promptly doing it again a few seconds later. Bo loved video games. One of his final wishes was to borrow a PlayStation from his sister. Bo was loyal to those he loved. Evident by the outpouring of love and visits from friends and family during his final days. If he loved you, he had your back, and he would fight to prove it if it came to that.
Bo lived a majority of his life chasing the fleeting pleasures of this world, but God’s mercy and grace are far more abundant and powerful than the sin of this world. Bo was saved on July 14, 2024. He lived from that point on as a redeemed believer in Jesus Christ and has been welcomed into his eternal home in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1-3
Bo is survived by his wife, Emily; his children, Gatlin McGreger and Josephine McGreger; his parents, Greg and Paula Lovorn; his brother, Brandon Lovorn (Hillary); and his sister, Charlsey Kennedy (Caleb). Bo was the grandson of Mary Ann McGreger and Charlie and Suzye Lovorn. Bo also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nephews, and a host of cousins who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Lee McGreger, Laura West Adams, and Thurman Adams; his uncle, Lee “Buster” McGreger; and his cousin, Mac Hester.
Pallbearers carrying Bo to his final resting place will be Shaw Sullivan, Jimmy Lee Wheeler, Jesse James, Chris Hardenburg, Sammy McGreger, Brian Ellis, Thad Geiger-Gillon, and Jacob McGreger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lenny McGreger, Caleb Cox, Devin Stafford, and Preston McGreger.
Services will be held at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City, MS, on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM, with the funeral to follow. Interment will be held at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman.
