Happy Saturday, Team UMC!
Andi Edwards here; as promised, I am back to present the first installment of our Storytellers Series. Many of you have shared your excitement about learning more about the partnerships that make this work possible and about the people who show up every day to serve the Veteran community.
Throughout the year, United Military Care receives beautiful, handmade quilts from generous individuals and local groups who stitch each piece with our Veterans in mind. Every quilt carries time, skill, and intention. When the opportunity arises, we place these quilts directly with Veterans across our community. A simple gift. A powerful reminder that their service is seen, remembered, and honored.
Sometimes, those moments of connection happen with a little help from our partners.
Last month we had the privilege of working with Mike Edwards, Director of Veterans Affairs at Tapestry Hospice & Palliative Care, to place one of these quilts with a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. It was a small act on the surface, but it reflected sentiments that are much larger:
Care. Respect. Community.
This is what collaboration looks like. Organizations coming together, each bringing what they can, united by a shared commitment to our neighbors who served. Moments like this remind us that when a community moves together with purpose, even the simplest gesture can carry extraordinary meaning.
This is just the beginning of our series - more stories to come.
