Allan Taylor, 76, of California, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1949 the son of Hugh Taylor and Hilda (Beager) Taylor both of whom preceded him in death. Allan felt this was probably enough for his obituary, because if you knew Allan, you already knew that he loved America and proudly served his country as a United States Marine-“Semper Fi”. You would also know that he was a skilled electrician at Chesebrough-Ponds/Unilever, where his coworkers lovingly referred to him as “Grouch Number 2”. After retiring, Allan became a school bus driver- a job he truly enjoyed…until he didn’t. Anyone who knew Allan could clearly see how much he loved his children, Matt Taylor (Pat) and Diana Norris (David); his grandchildren, Josh and Shalimar; and his loyal dog, Gracie, who still resides at the family home. And finally, if you knew Allan, you would know that he is now enjoying a beautiful family reunion with those who preceded him in death, his parents, his sisters, and the love of his life, Judy, whom he missed every day since her passing in 2016. He would want you to know they are together again, where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more being apart. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 10:00 A.M.-12 Noon at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service to follow at the California City Cemetery with Military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or American Lung Association c/o the funeral home. It is with sadness that the family of Charlotte A. Gerlach announces that she passed from this life into the next on Sunday, January 11,, 2026. Charlotte was born on June 1, 1950, to George and Ada Percival. Charlotte is survived by her son, Troy Schmidt (Debra), Grandsons: Kyler and Kenyon Hagerman, Granddaughters: Jillian and Jada Schmidt, one brother: Dale Percival (Rita), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ada Percival; her husband, Calvin Gerlach; her brother, Danny Percival; and her daughter, Stacey Hagerman.
She was a woman who loved her family fiercely. Her life was defined by devotion—to her children and especially her grandchildren – they were her greatest pride, her deepest joy, and the center of everything she did.
Charlotte found joy in gardening in her yard, but she especially enjoyed a good shopping trip. An enthusiastic shopper, she believed there was always room for one more bargain, one more outfit, or one more reason to browse every single aisle of a store. Shopping wasn’t just a pastime for her; it was an adventure.
Above all else, she adored her grandchildren. They were the center of her world, the recipients of her endless love, laughter, and gentle mischief. Whether spoiling them, or simply enjoying their company, she took immense pride and happiness in being their grandmother.
Known for her playful spirit, she had a special talent for teasing her family—always with a twinkle in her eye and love in her heart. Her humor brought laughter to her family and left lasting memories they will cherish forever.
Charlotte had a quiet strength that only her closest family members understood and they will remember her for that. Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the laughter she shared and the love she gave.
Charlotte’s wishes for privacy, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or American Liver Foundation c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services of California, MO.
