Literally (exactly!) 10 years ago this photo was snapped as I began my deep-dive, eye-opening, awe-inspiring journey to health. And truth be told, I continue to learn and grow and shift every single day. Health is a voyage, not a destination.

If you know me, you know very well how “crazy” I am about all things functional health and how DESPERATELY I want to share it with others.

Because and - I promise!

I cannot begin to describe the gratitude I hold for the wealth of knowledge that I have gained and have been able to apply for my own health as well as the health of others over the past 10 years!

When people initiate a discussion with me about their health issues, I start by asking about their sugar consumption.

Often they reply that they don’t eat that much sugar.

Ok. Maybe so.

Then I ask about their carbohydrate intake – grains (even heart-healthy grains!), starchy veggies, fruits, and alcohol being primary sugars that people don’t really consider.

(It is surprising how much of our diet consists of sugar.)

And it’s true that sugar is not inherently “bad” per se. BUT! Most of us have created such a stress-filled environment in our body-mind-spirit that the regular consumption of sugars and processed foods is in essence pouring gasoline all over the fire of our stress – and hence increasing inflammation (the cornerstone of your dis-ease).

This is why it can be so beneficial to take a pause from those foods that fuel the stress response and intentionally give your body the space to heal, to calm, to reset.

If you've never taken the opportunity to do a Restart and do the work to set aside the known inflammatory foods, I highly recommend that you give it a try. It can be very eye-opening and transformative.

So many people choose the new year to resolve to get healthy, but so many of them don’t stick with it and end up returning to their old habits by February.

Why don’t they stick with it?

Because it’s HARD and they don’t see results!

That is why I love sharing Restart!

Such a disturbing double-standard that demands we reprogram the social construct.

You are perfect and whole and beautiful just as you are.

(Side note - women are biologically designed to carry a smidge of extra weight. It’s how people have managed to persist across the millennia.)

Your healing should be founded on self-love. Start with that, and all the rest will fall into place.

In a world that is encouraging divisiveness and animosity, maybe we should pause and see if we are too wedded to our beliefs - whatever they may be.

The Buddha cautions us against holding fixed views as they are often influenced by our individual perceptions.

And when we choose to hold that each of us comes from our own unique experiences and understandings, we can create space for beliefs that differ from our own.

Constant and forced denial and resistance of "other" only serves to empower and deepen the division that is acting to destroy humanity.

The only "wrong" is believing that you are "right".

Know this:

You CAN feel good again.

You CAN make changes that will bring change to your mal-health.

You DO NOT have to choose to be defeated by your symptoms.

When you know more information, you can make different choices in your day-to-day nutrition and lifestyle, and those changes will translate into improved health.

It really is just that easy.
