THE LUTEAL PHASE or your premenstrual time often gets a bad rep, but only when you don’t know what your body needs.

🍠Food - plenty of complex carbs like sweet potatoes and easy to digest foods like soups and stews. Make sure to pair every carb with a protein for balanced blood sugar. You will be hungrier in this phase! That’s okay. But root vegetables and animal based proteins can help stabilize any cravings.

💪🏼Exercise - Can actually feel really good here, especially if you tend towards moodiness. Getting your energy moving can help some of the more emotional aspects of PMS. You might not lift your heaviest or run your farthest. That’s okay. As you get closer to your period, it’s important to slow down. This will prevent period pain in the long run.

💖Relationships - No, you actually aren’t a b*tch, your needs are just surfacing. Take space from a lot of social engagements to check in with your inner world. Now is not the time to make any big decisions.

Attuning to the needs of each phase of your cycle is the key to understanding what’s really happening in your body. We weren’t taught this as girls. But we’re adults now and it’s time to learn.

THE FOLLICULAR PHASE is a time of building back up after your bleed and gearing up for ovulation.

🍠Food - Ithis phase, it is important to support the building of the follicle which will release an egg at ovulation
- Root vegetables, mineral rich infusions like nettles, plenty of protein like beef, chicken and eggs, and healthy fats like grassed butter and avocados

💪🏼Exercise - Rather than go hard immediately after your period ends, see if you can ease back into working out. Let it be a slow build!

💖Relationships - This is a playful and social cycle phase. Plan time with your friends, go on some cute dates and let your inner little girl have some fun!
