1. What inspired you to complete your Bachelor’s degree?
I was inspired to complete my degree by Dr. Peter Carlson. I met him at a Pride event while handing out candy rainbow crosses with my girlfriend (wife now). He explained that CLU's Undergraduate Degree for Professionals recognized the importance that older students' professional and personal experiences held and that the program was designed to build a supportive educational foundation around that experience.
2. What is your favorite memory of the Professionals program?
My time in the Professionals program was so much fun that I don't have a favorite memory but rather a collage of memories that continuously emphasized the importance of a global community and service to others. As a Project Coordinator for an overseas team, I learned to see my international colleagues as team members with a the same goal of providing the best service possible to our client and their patients.
3.How has your degree benefited you?
When I first started at CLU, I wanted to have been promoted to a managerial position with prospects of an international posting by the time I graduated. However as my understanding of corporate culture and values, as well as my own personal impact, grew I made the decision to leave my company and develop my wife's private practice to an agency. Together, we strive to provide a work environment that promotes equity for all members of our team. Our vision is to set a new standard in the mental healthcare industry, in which interns all the way up to fully licensed therapist feel supported and respected so that they in turn can provide the best service possible to their patients.
