Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for assisting Adults or Youth

RECOMMENDED FOR: Anyone with or without clinical training who might provide initial help to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

FORMAT: Blended. 2 hours of online prep-work followed by live instructor led session. LOCATION: 1911 Williams Drive, Oxnard DATES: Choose one of the following trainings.

· Adults (in Spanish): 2/26/2026, 8:30a-4p, 20 seats – registration closes 2/19/2026

· Youth (in Spanish): 4/23/2026, 8:30a-3p, 20 seats – registration closes 4/16/2026

DESCRIPTION: Similar to how CPR training helps you assist someone in cardiac arrest, MHFA teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you skills to provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

HOW TO REGISTER: Click the button below and complete the registration form. Prior to the training, you will receive instructions on how to access your account with the National Council for Mental Wellness in MHFA Connect and access your prep-work.

Registration closes 1 week prior to each training date. Capacity is limited for each session to the first registrants.

Registration is subject to approval by VCBH, and your affiliated organization (if applicable).

COST: This course is valued at $170 and is funded through the Mental Health Services Act through June 30, 2026 - learners attend at NO charge.

DESCRIPCIÓN: Al igual que la capacitación de CPR (Primeros Auxilios), sirve para ayudar a alguien que ha tenido un paro cardíaco, los primeros auxilios de salud mental enseñan a identificar, comprender y responder a los signos de enfermedades mentales y trastornos por uso de sustancias.

La capacitación te ayuda a desarrollar habilidades para brindar apoyo inicial a alguien que puede tener un problema de salud mental o de uso de sustancias o a alguien que esté pasando por una crisis.

Cómo inscribirse: Escanea el código QR con tu teléfono para llenar el formulario de inscripción. Antes de la capacitación, recibirás instrucciones para entrar a tu cuenta del Consejo Nacional para el Bienestar Mental (National Council for Mental Wellness) en MHFA Connect y completar el trabajo de preparación requerido.
