We are currently waiting for Delmarva to give us clearance to reopen following the electrical repairs. Because of the recent winter storm emergencies (which understandably take priority), they’ve moved us to Monday (3/2). So likely opening date will be Thursday (3/5)

We know this pause has been unexpected, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. We will share a definitive reopening date as soon as we receive confirmation — no later than Monday.

In the meantime, please don’t worry about your memberships. All monthly packages have been placed on hold so you are not losing any subscription time. If you have a class package, we will extend the expiration date to cover the missed days.

Thank you for being such a thoughtful and supportive community. We miss you. And we cannot wait to be back in the studio together — followed, of course, by tea and conversation.

Announcing free classes at Church Street and on Zoom 💛

A huge thank you to Rev. Suzie of Christ Episcopal Church for graciously welcoming us into their space. We are especially grateful to to Katie Day for connecting us with Christ Church. Also thanks to Patricia Johnson, Mary Leonard, Lauren Mross, Kate Gibson, Liz Molin, and David King for actively helping us explore many other options.

We have added evening Zoom classes. Great for these cold wintry nights to practice from the comfort of your homes.

All classes will be free to all our members while we fix our studio. We are making good progress and hope to be back in a week.

This week's schedule is up on our website. Please sign up. Looking forward to having you back 😀

This pause is temporary, but our commitment to your practice is not.

We are hunting for an alternate space as well as planning to offer online classes.

While we are undergoing repairs, we’re sharing recorded classes with our members at no cost so you can stay in the flow.

Thank you for being part of this community as we take the next steps.

After the Fire...
Perhaps by now, you may know - yesterday (1/30), there was a small fire in our studio. It happened after class, it was noticed quickly, and handled promptly with help from the fire department. Everyone is safe, and we’re grateful that the damage while debilitating, was limited.

As you also know, this studio is a labor of love, which hasn’t even been open that long. So many new people have come in through the doors, and we’ve enjoyed getting to know you. Each of you has such a different reason and connection for doing yoga. We’ve gotten to know your individual stories, and felt a part of the community, and since you kept coming back, we hoped you’re enjoying it too.

Standing out in the cold on the street yesterday, watching the firefighters breaking down the window, it felt as though the journey had ended before we even got started!

Sometimes the daily running of the studio feels transactional - we provide a service that you pay us for. Is it more than that? Yesterday evening we realized that is not true. Heartfelt thank you for the many, many messages of support and offers of empty bedrooms. You don’t know how much that means to us.

As we move forward with repairs and the required safety checks, we’re focusing on staying connected with you all. We’re exploring alternate locations and are also considering streaming some classes. Feel free to chip in with any thoughts you have.

Stay tunes as we explore some possibilities.

We know what it feels like to wake up "creaky" in the morning. So we created our "Daily Wanderer" class. Absolutely no flexibility or yoga experience needed. If you know anyone who needs to improve their balance and mobility, please share it with them.

This recent New York Times article highlighted 4 basic tests for healthy aging — sit-to-rise; balance; grip strength; and walking speed. This simply confirms what our "Daily Wanderer" class has been designed for all along: every session helps you get up from the floor more easily, stand steadier, hold stronger, and walk taller and with confidence. And as Dr. Ashar reminds us in the article, declines in these areas aren’t permanent — they can be reversed. So if you want to not just measure aging well but actually age well, come practice with us at Wandering Locust
( https://www.wanderinglocust.com/ ) on Locust Street, from the heart of Cambridge.

They can’t guarantee future health, but they can tell you the trajectory you’re on.
