This week, we're giving a huge shoutout to Senior Program Director Amy Rochon for going the extra mile to support her team!

When a staff member couldn’t teach a scheduled Safety Care class, Amy stepped up without hesitation, even though she had just taught the same class the previous day. She rearranged her schedule, moved multiple meetings, and made sure the class went on as planned.

Her dedication, flexibility, and teamwork makes us proud. Thank you, Amy, for your incredible commitment and for always being ready to support others!

Norma has been part of Vinfen’s Employment Training Center (ETC) in Somerville for more than a decade, and her journey shows how the right support can unlock independence and growth. “They’ve given me great job opportunities, and they’re always there for me to give support and answer questions,” she says. Six months ago, Norma started a new job working part-time at New Balance’s Brighton store. “I sort clothing by size—shirts, pants, sweatshirts—and hang things up. I like it a lot—it’s quiet back there, and my co-workers are very nice.”

New Balance has partnered with Vinfen for more than 20 years, offering vocational opportunities to individuals served by ETC. “Working with individuals from all backgrounds and skill sets is so important in today’s work environment,” Norma’s supervisor, Mary Sheehy, explains. “Diversity is essential in all environments, and we are fortunate to be able to provide work to individuals of all abilities. It is a huge part of our core value of Teamwork. It has been a wonderful relationship with Vinfen!”

For Norma, earning her own paycheck represents far more than money. “I like making my own money and buying what I want. I love the independence it gives me.”

This week, we’re thrilled to recognize Lead Residential Counselor Clarence Vaughn! A rising star at Vinfen, Clarence is a strong advocate for the people we serve and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure their needs are met.

Whether it’s picking up extra shifts, covering gaps, or flexing his schedule so individuals can attend important medical appointments, Clarence does it all with unwavering dedication and heart. His strong work ethic and team-first attitude make him an invaluable part of our Vinfen family.

Thank you to Senator Robyn Kennedy, Representative Jay Livingstone, and members of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities for advancing our priority legislation to address long-standing pay disparities between human services workers employed by the Commonwealth and those employed by contracted agencies.

An important step forward for fairness and equity in the human services workforce — now on to the Senate Committee on Ways and Means!

We’re highlighting Assistant Clinical Director of Brain Injury Services Hayley Bayen on her recent accomplishment of presenting her poster at the recent BABAT - Massachusetts Professionals In Behavior Analysis conference. Hayley completed this project during her tenure as a clinical specialist at Vinfen, developing an intervention protocol aligning closely with the important work we do.

Hayley's professional journey from clinical specialist to passing her boards and moving into her assistant clinical director position, to then presenting at a state conference, requires significant dedication, planning, and courage. We are proud to have you as part of the Vinfen team, Hayley, and we congratulate you on your incredible achievements!

As Massachusetts prepares for a massive outreach effort to keep people insured despite new federal Medicaid restrictions, state officials announced Thursday that a leader with years of experience coordinating such efforts would take a leadership role at the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

Congratulations to Amy Rosenthal, executive director of Health Care for All, on her new position as HHS’s undersecretary for health that will begin next month.

Last week, we came together for Vinfen’s 18th Annual Family Celebration, and what a night it was! The room was filled with the people we serve, their families and friends, dedicated staff, partners, and supporters. The evening overflowed with laughter, joy, inspiration, and connection—a true celebration of community.

Today’s 🌟 All Star Friday 🌟 goes out to Residential Counselor Nate SSbeski! Over the summer, Nate’s program planned a festive cookout with their residents, but when the grill wouldn't start, it looked like the celebration might fizzle out.

That’s when Nate stepped up. Without missing a beat, he brought his own portable grill from home, saving the day and keeping the spirit alive. Thanks to Nate, the cookout went on, and smiles returned all around.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of State Senator Ed Kennedy, who served the City of Lowell for decades. Senator Kennedy was a key supporter of Vinfen’s development of more accessible and extensive services in the Lowell area, participating in both our CBHC's and Andover Street program's open houses over the past few years. We will remember the impact Senator Kennedy’s service and advocacy have had on our communities. We share our condolences with his loved ones, friends, colleagues, and constituents.
