It was standing room only for this wonderful afternoon concert featuring NEC’s Mitsuru Yonezaki, violin and Yoshino Toi, piano. Their program included Mozart’s Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 8 in G Major and Faure’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in A Major. We are proud to sponsor the New England Conservatory and appreciate the work of the student musicians.

We enjoyed two more fantastic visits from two more groups of 5th graders from Shady Hill School! On Tuesday we learned about the wellness benefits of drumming and did some drumming together. On Wednesday we learned how lifelong exercise is good for every body, mind, and spirit and shared an exercise class with fitness guru, Sergio. Students had the opportunity to chat with residents about their life experiences.

Writing History - Righting History: Today, author Ray Anthony Shepard shared his soon to be released book “The Forgotten” with TCH residents and students from Shady Hill School. We are days away from the anniversary of first shots of the American Revolution and Mr. Shepard’s book brings to light and life the stories of the Patriots of Color who were there in Lexington and Concord in 1775. The students also spent some time talking to residents about their histories.

The nasturtium are in bloom and are ready to be viewed and eaten at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. A group of us began with lunch at Cafe G where nasturtium was used in delights from chicken salad to tea cakes. We each then ventured on our own to see the beautiful garden flowing with nasturtium, other blooms, and the galleries. A lovely day!

Having interns from Lesley University’s expressive arts therapy program means we have access to new information, new programs, and new energy. Today, dance/movement therapy intern, Elise, shared a presentation about the health benefits of walking. TCH takes pride in our Brain Healthy Cooking menu based on the Mediterranean Diet. Walking incorporates the Mediterranean lifestyle! Let’s all get out there for a good walk… it’s as simple as that!

It’s officially spring when our beloved Red Sox begin their season! Playing away, we’re gathered for their season opener - with ballpark inspired snacks to enjoy. Playing away ball!

Remember these names: Baian Chen (countertenor), Anjulie Djearam (soprano), and Lingbo Ma (piano). These amazing students from the New England Conservatory performed a wonderful concert of music which explored all the many forms of love. Thank you to NEC coordinator, Grace Allendorf, for arranging these exceptional performances.

Happy Spring! The Cambridge Homes’ back garden is a riot of crocuses, snowdrops, and hellebore on this first day of spring. They are our perennial reminders of renewal and herald the return of softer temperatures and sunshine. Blessed equinox!

What an enjoyable afternoon, thanks to Princeton University’s Tigertones! These gents’ were a delight and performed a beautiful repertoire of a capella music with energy and musicality. We hope to see you again the next time you’re in town!
