🪏 Tackle the top layers first. Less weight and more repetition is better in this case. It’ll make it more manageable and less likely to strain your back.
🪏 Deepen your squat as you get to lower layers.
🪏 Use your whole trunk with your leg extension to assist your arms while tossing the snow.
🪏 Try to use both sides as much as possible.
🪏 Avoid dropping your upper body and rounding your back. Keep your core engaged for support.

While the end of the year can bring us some holiday cheer it can also be a time for reflection. It is normal to feel stuck in your progress or overwhelmed by social and familial responsibilities. No matter how much we compartmentalize, our bodies are going through it all.

Healing doesn’t follow a straight line — especially this time of year. If you’re feeling tired, behind or stuck in your healing process, know you’re not alone, and you’re not doing anything wrong. More often than not, when healing feels slow or confusing, it’s not because you haven’t tried hard enough. It’s because your body has been asking for a different kind of support — one that actually meets you where you are.

Melissa Buffer Trenouth, MSPT of Buffer Trenouth Physical Therapy brings years of experience to a highly specialized and individualized practice. After building and operating a busy outpatient clinic for many years, Melissa is now working independently so she can provide 1:1 physical therapy care. She implements a complete, full mind body approach addressing dynamic alignment, motor plans and strategies in athletics and in life, and overall efficiency of movement. Melissa has worked with athletes, dancers, circus artists, movers, and shakers of all ages, levels, and backgrounds and would love to be a part of your health and wellness story.
