Janice Cormier joined the Neville Center for short-term rehab following a hospital stay after a fall. During her time with us, she received comprehensive care—including pulmonary support and skilled physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Through hard work and dedication, Janice made remarkable progress—advancing from walking just 10 feet to 280 feet with a rolling walker, and even completing a full flight of stairs by discharge. She’s now safely returning home, able to manage daily activities with minimal supervision.

Janice shared, “I’m grateful for the therapists, nurses, and all the staff. I got stronger while I was here and really enjoyed the breathing and balance exercises.” She also added that she would gladly return, praising both the care and the food!

We’re proud to be part of Janice’s recovery journey. 💙

After a fall on ice that caused multiple fractures, Joan came to Neville for short-term rehabilitation. When she arrived, she needed significant assistance with daily activities and was unable to walk independently.

With hard work and support from our rehab team, Joan made incredible progress. By discharge, she was able to walk 200 feet with supervision using a platform rolling walker and complete her daily tasks with supervision.

“Rehab makes you keep going even when you don’t want to—in a nice way. I enjoyed the whole staff. Everyone is kind.”

“Of course I would! I enjoyed meeting other patients in the dance group. Everyone makes you feel welcomed, warm, and friendly.”

We’re proud to have been part of Joan’s recovery journey. 💙

Small Steps, Big Progress: Tina’s Rehab Success

After a fall at home caused Bettina “Tina” to fracture her left tibial plateau, she came to Neville following treatment at Lahey Hospital. Because her injury required strict non-weightbearing with a knee immobilizer, even everyday activities like getting dressed, bathing, and transferring required assistance at first.

With the support of our Physical and Occupational Therapy teams, Tina worked hard every day to rebuild her strength and independence. She learned how to safely transfer and hop with a rolling walker while maintaining her weight-bearing precautions. Tina was also supported by our Pulmonologist and Respiratory Therapist through Neville’s Breathe Well Program, helping manage her oxygen needs throughout rehab.

A retired Occupational Therapist herself, Tina was eager to learn adaptive techniques to stay as independent as possible. By the time she was discharged, she was able to hop up to 36 feet with her walker and complete dressing and toileting with supervision using adaptive equipment.

When asked what made her rehab successful, Tina shared:
“The rehab staff and CNA’s. OT’s and PT's were all instrumental, supportive, encouraging, and positive. They set up realistic goals, and their expectations were high.”

Would she return to Neville if she needed rehab again?
“I would come back, and I would recommend it.”

We’re proud to have been part of Tina’s recovery journey and wish her continued strength and health. 💙

Katherine came to Neville for short-term rehab after a fall that resulted in a T12 compression fracture and a right tibial plateau fracture. When she arrived, she required up to two staff members to assist with transfers, was unable to walk, and needed help with bathing, dressing, and toileting.

With hard work and support from our team, Katherine made tremendous progress. After being upgraded to touchdown weight-bearing, she became more independent with daily activities and even began walking with physical therapy—taking her first steps just before discharge.

“Staff is very attentive. They listen, explain what’s going on, and are so encouraging,” Katherine shared. Her partner added, “Communication was great, and staff welcomed family members.”

We’re proud to have supported Katherine on her road to recovery.

Patient Testimonial: Geoffrey P. Coughlin

“What made my rehab a success? The therapists—especially occupational therapy.

One of the most important things I’ll take home with me is to always walk with a walker, focus on balance, and stay aware of my surroundings.

Would I return here if I needed rehab again? Definitely. The therapy I received made all the difference, and I truly feel comfortable here.”

💪 Anne’s Inspiring Rehab Journey at Neville Center 💙

Anne came to Neville Center for short-term rehab after a fall at home that resulted in a left femur fracture and surgery. When she first arrived, she needed significant assistance with daily activities and mobility, requiring two staff members for transfers and only tolerating a few minutes of sitting during therapy.

Through determination, hard work, and the support of our Physical and Occupational Therapy teams, Anne made incredible progress. By discharge, she was independently completing upper-body bathing and dressing, managing toileting with supervision, and requiring only minimal assistance with lower-body care. She progressed to transferring independently, walking 100 feet with a rolling walker, and even began climbing stairs again!

🌟 Anne’s words say it best:
“What made my rehab a success? Wanting to really get better. At my age, you have to start now.”
When asked if she would return to Neville, Anne replied, “Oh yeah! I had girlfriends who came here and recommended it.”

We’re so proud of Anne and honored to be part of her recovery journey!
