Let me help you simplify your space by developing a plan that works with YOUR preferences, to bring order, function, and balance to any room in your home. Even if you’ve taken the all important step of asking for help, you may be embarrassed to let an outsider see your clutter, be unsure of what questions to ask, or not know exactly how to express what you want the end product to look like. To be completely transparent, I will not have all the answers or know exactly what we should do upon the initial walk-though. Much like a doctor recommending a treatment only after having diagnosed the problem, a flexible but dependable step-by-step process is needed for optimum project results. The four steps I use are Assess, Plan, Implement, and Evaluate. Step 1: Assess (This happens during my initial visit, and continue throughout the project) What’s working? What do you especially like about the room or space? What’s definitely NOT working (usually the easiest question for most clients to answer)? What are the essential items needed to make the project space functional, manageable, and attractive? What are the events, tasks, and activities that the space is used for and what items are required? Step 2: Plan This is where the client’s input is absolutely vital. At this point we will work together to determine exactly what will make you satisfied with your space–what your expectations are. You get to identify and share your dreams for the space. Another part of this phase is estimating how long it will take to finish the organizing project. Step 3: Implement This is the step where we will really dig in and get to work. Your level of involvement is of course completely up to you, however the more input you have in the implementation process, the more satisfied you will likely be with the final product and we will more likely be able to put systems in place that you will be able to maintain after the project is complete. This phase involves placing like with like, eliminating unused/broken/unnecessary items, assigning a home to every item, shopping for storage methods as needed, and making sure the space ultimately can be maintained long term. Step 4: Evaluate After we’ve assessed the space, created a plan, and implemented your new organizational system, it’s time to step back and make sure you the client feel like your life has gotten easier. Are the organization or filing systems we’ve created functioning well? Are they easy for you to use? What’s working, what isn’t, and what adjustments need to be made? I will respond to this feedback promptly, tweaking and fine-tuning my work to ensure client satisfaction.
