I've worked in the mental health field for the past twenty years. I was employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for thirteen years. During this time, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in the assessment and treatment of mental illness. For the past seven years, I’ve been in private practice at Kershaw County Psychiatry with Dr. Sudhakar Morthala where I have continued to learn and develop my skills. I still enjoy an association with this practice on a part-time basis. In addition to my professional expertise, I've been a resident of Kershaw County since 1979 and I know the community and the resources available. I have extensive experience working with adults, children, adolescents and teens who struggle with issues of low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, anger management, poor coping skills, marital/relationship problems, sexuality issues, gender identity issues, trauma and grief. I also can provide advice and training in parenting skills and assistance in coping with behavioral issues in children, adolescents, teens and adults. I take a “no-nonsense” approach to therapy in a “laid back” and nurturing environment. My goal is to help my patients identify the issues in their lives that are problematic and find solutions that will allow them to be happier, more fulfilled and more productive people.
