🌱 Food is more than fuel. 🌱
At the Life Center, we see every day how access to healthy food and learning to cook can strengthen both body and mind. Through our food pantry, community meals, and teaching kitchen programs, we’re working to improve food access and cooking confidence across our community.

We’re excited to share this free virtual training from Mental Health America exploring how food supports mental wellness and how we can build healthier relationships with what we eat.

Together, we’re building a healthier, more connected community — one meal at a time.

It’s National Hugging Day 🤍

A really good hug does more than feel nice—it can calm your nervous system, lower stress, and boost feelings of connection and safety. Hugs release oxytocin (often called the bonding hormone), helping our bodies relax and reminding us we’re not alone.

Today, we’re celebrating the simple power of human connection. Whether it’s a hug from a loved one, a friend, or even wrapping your arms around yourself—those moments of closeness matter.

Here’s your gentle reminder: connection heals.

In rural communities, injustice is often experienced through limited access to mental health services, long waitlists, transportation barriers, and the stigma that keeps people from reaching out for support. When care is difficult to access, individuals and families are left carrying more than they should on their own.

At Come to the Table Counseling, we believe that access to thoughtful, compassionate mental health care is a matter of dignity and justice. Healing happens through safe relationships, connection, and being met where you are.

This January, as we focus on Connection & Belonging, we honor Dr. King by continuing to provide care that helps people feel supported, understood, and less alone.

A little about me:

Hello! My name is Jessica Perusse. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) and a Certified School Social Worker (CSSW). I attended Canisius College in Buffalo and earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience. I went on to earn a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002 with a concentration in family systems and school social work. I have worked extensively with children and families in school settings, with military members and their families as well as Veterans and their families for over 16 years. As a country girl myself, I have a passion for bringing needed resources to rural communities and have recently opened a private practice for mental health care in Camden, NY.

I work with individuals, couples, families and groups of all sizes. I come from a holistic perspective –treating the mind, body and spirit to help restore a sense of balance in life. We all experience hardships and need help to heal. I am strongly influenced by my Christian worldview; however, I respect the personal uniqueness and self-determination of each individual and provide both faith-based as well as secular approaches to counseling. I use a variety of therapeutic tools such as psycho-education, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Behavioral Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief Intervention Therapy.
