💙 April is Autism Awareness Month 💙

This month is about spreading kindness, understanding, and acceptance for individuals with autism and their families.

Autism is not something to be “fixed” — it’s a different way of experiencing the world. By learning more, showing patience, and supporting inclusion, we can make our communities more welcoming for everyone.

Let’s celebrate differences, support families, and promote acceptance — not just this month, but every day.

These toys might look simple… but for many of our kids, they’re anything but.

For children on the autism spectrum,
playing with toys doesn’t always come naturally.

What looks like “fun” can actually feel confusing, overwhelming, or even frustrating.

So at DreamShip, we break it down into small, achievable steps:

👉 Push the button
👉 Watch what happens
👉 Try it again
👉 Share the moment with someone else

That’s where learning begins. 💡

And yes… sometimes the toys get thrown.
(Occupational hazard 😅)

But more often than not, something really special happens…

✨ A child starts to enjoy play
✨ They begin to engage with others
✨ That toy becomes a bridge to connection—and even friendship

Because play isn’t just play.
It’s communication. It’s social skills. It’s the foundation for relationships.

And we’re here for every small step that gets them there. 💛

We hear it all the time…
“Do kids ever get tired during therapy?” 😴

Short answer? Not really. 😉

At DreamShip, our clients are BUSY.
And we mean really busy.

Most of the kids we serve are under the age of 6, and they come to DreamShip
🕣 Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

That’s a full day of:
🎯 Learning new skills
🗣️ Building communication
🤝 Practicing social interactions
🏃‍♂️ Moving, playing, exploring, and growing

And while yes… they’re little…
💥 They are working HARD.

You’ll rarely find a kiddo snoozing over here—because our environment is designed to keep them engaged, motivated, and having FUN while they learn.

To them, it feels like play.
To us, it’s purposeful, individualized teaching happening all day long.

We’re so proud of how much effort our clients put in every single day. 💛

At DreamShip, we believe something really important…
**Learning should feel like being a kid. 💛**

Yes—ABA therapy is effective. It’s evidence-based, intentional, and individualized. But that doesn’t mean it has to feel clinical or rigid.

In fact, our goal is the opposite.

✨ Every ~2 minutes, our team is creating a learning opportunity.
But here’s the magic:
**Most of our kids don’t even realize they’re “working.”**

To them, it looks like:
🎈 Playing on the trampoline
🛝 Exploring the playground
🫧 Chasing bubbles
🎲 Playing games with friends

But to us?
We’re intentionally teaching:
✔️ How to share
✔️ How to communicate wants and needs
✔️ How to walk safely with an adult (instead of running away)
✔️ How to engage, respond, and connect

We meet kids where they are—and build skills through joy, movement, and connection.

Because when learning feels like play…
Kids stay engaged, motivated, and successful. 🌱

And that’s where the real growth happens.

From Behavior Technician to Supervisor, Olivia has continued to grow while making a lasting impact through her creativity, leadership, and passion for those we serve.
