New Georgia Training Fund Offers Reimbursements to Employers in High-Demand Industries
Southwest Georgia employers are encouraged to explore a new state workforce opportunity that may help reduce training costs and strengthen employee retention. The Technical College System of Georgia and WorkSource Georgia have launched the Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund, supported by a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The fund is designed to reimburse eligible Georgia employers in advanced manufacturing, construction, and energy for approved workforce training. Employers may receive up to $7,000 per participant and up to 80 percent of allowable training costs. State officials have said the program is expected to train at least 650 Georgians for high-demand, high-wage careers.
Eligible employers must operate legally in Georgia, employ full-time permanent workers authorized to work in the United States, and complete required reporting. Eligible trainees must be at least 17 years old, not enrolled in high school, and must be either new hires or current employees.
The application window is open through April 9, 2026. Regional employers are encouraged to review the official program details and consider whether this funding can support current workforce needs, employee upskilling, or expansion plans.
