You ever look in the mirror and not know who’s staring back?

In the military, identity is clear — your rank, your unit, your mission.
After service, it gets blurry.
You start asking: Who am I without the title? Without the team?
But here’s the truth: identity was never supposed to come from a uniform.
It’s built from who you are in character, not in combat.
God didn’t retire your identity. He’s redefining it.

*Most of us are trained for the mission, not the aftermath.
That’s why readjustment stress hits hard — the schedule, the structure, the brotherhood, all gone overnight.

*The truth is, the real work starts after EAS.
It’s not about starting over — it’s about rebuilding identity, purpose, and belonging on your own terms.

Don’t take your time in the military for granted.

The purpose, the significance, the brotherhood it’s all right there, built into the uniform and tied to that paycheck. You don’t realize how much it shapes you until you’re on the outside looking in.

When you get out, nobody hands you that sense of belonging anymore. You’ve gotta build it. Be intentional about it. It’s necessary to have and to thrive after the military.

I was lucky enough to find it again not by walking away, but by serving the same culture I once thought I was done with. Turns out, it was more a part of me than I ever realized.

⚡ Enjoy it now. Learn from it. Carry it forward.
Because one day, you’ll miss the moments you thought you wanted to escape. Get Some!!

Thank You and for another incredible week of Operation Mt. Freedom. It’s an honor and privilege to be a mentor for this amazing program. This week is always a bonus when my two passions come together helping and supporting Veterans and snowboarding.

A time to learn, reflect, give back and be restored with my tribe of warriors, community and nature.
