The greenhouse at The Eberhardt Center might be moving at a slower pace this time of year, but Kathy stayed busy this week learning about birds and getting her hands dirty. She tackled planting, mastering pre-wetting the soil before evenly spreading the seeds and tucking them in a quarter-inch deep. Safely covered in plastic wrap to retain moisture and placed on a warming mat under the grow lights, those spring onions should be sprouting in just five days! 🌱✨

This February, let's honor the incredible contributions of Black Americans throughout history. From resistance to resilience, their stories inspire us all.

In 1926, Carter G. Woodson initiated Negro History Week. It evolved into Black History Month, officially acknowledged in 1976 during the nation's bicentennial celebrations. Black History Month is dedicated to honoring the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans. The Association for the Study of African American Life and History designates a specific theme each year. The 2024 theme is "African Americans and the Arts" spanning the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.
