Water! H2O!💦
If we don't drink enough it can have dire consequences, especially in older adults.
Impairing cognitive and physical functioning, lower blood pressure, make our joints and muscles feel stiff. Important to sweating and can compound to effect other issues with kidneys and other organs.
If you struggle to take in water here are some tips that might help:
🍓Add flavors to your water, cut up berries, cucumbers and melons make it more palatable
🍲Get food sources of water. Water is in soups, popsicles, cottage cheese, melons and fruits/vegetables.
☕Drinking de-caffeinated coffees and teas, and sparkling waters can help get water intake too. Taking in the decaf version helps to stop the diuretic effect of tea, coffee and seltzers otherwise.
💧Have a drink of water before you are even thirsty! as well as adding a sip between bites of a meal can help with water intake
