* Ancient History: The earliest known evidence of a ladder is a Mesolithic rock painting in the Spider Caves in Valencia, Spain, which is at least 10,000 years old.

* The Longest Ladder: The world's longest ladder is a 135-foot (41-meter) wooden structure with 120 rungs, created by the Handwerks Museum in Austria in 2005.

* The First Stepladder: John H. Balsley patented the first foldable stepladder in 1892.

* Deadly Statistics: Over 900,000 people receive emergency room treatment for ladder-related injuries annually. Most fatal falls occur from heights of 10 feet or less.

* Common Mistakes: The four main causes of ladder injuries are using the wrong type of ladder, using a damaged ladder, using it incorrectly, and improper placement.

* Origin of Games: The game "Snakes and Ladders" originated in ancient India as Moksha Patamu (around the 2nd Century BC).
