Another holiday season keeping animals off my plate💚

I’m vegan 7 years strong🌱 and veggie most of my life!

I lift, practice yoga, walk, and am generally the most fit I’ve been since transitioning to veganism. Not to mention I feel better physically and spiritually. It’s one of the best life decisions I’ve made, and certainly the most aligned✨ taking animals off my plate never felt like a loss. In fact, I love and appreciate my food more than ever. Plants are naturally more beautiful and appetizing to consume than animals🐮

Tomorrow as you sit down with your family, consider celebrating turkeys instead of eating them.

Here are some turkey facts:
🦃 in the US, roughly 46 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving
🦃 turkeys bred for meat are slaughtered as babies at only a few months old. They naturally can live to over 10 years of age.
🦃 turkeys bred for meat face health issues due to breeding them for fast growth
🦃 turkeys are social animals and can bond with humans
🦃 turkeys are considered intelligent and empathetic

When you experience a trigger, you experience the intensity of all successive traumas combined. Anxiety is like this. We hear about it all the time.

Maybe love is like this. Maybe each time you fall in love, you feel it with the intensity of all the other times you were in love. Maybe each time you laugh, it brings back the joy you’ve felt on countless occasions through your life.

If our emotions are compounding, it actually gives us power to choose which emotions are our defaults. It gives us the power to forge a new path for our body to grow into a feeling.

I was recently speaking about the difference between religion and spirituality and why I’m more comfortable practicing spirituality. Ultimately, this is what it boils down to and why I love the practices of yoga and meditation✨

Spirituality does not look to what others believe to determine what is right and wrong in our own lives. Instead, it implores us to go within. To sit with our own experiences and emotions and to come to our own conclusions about our nature and the nature of the world around us🌎 these practices are powerful because they tune us into our own essence and the ancient wisdom of the body🧘🏻‍♀️ they push us to work to be the best version of ourselves because at the end of the day, there is no one to repent to, no one to save us. The space we create within our own mind and body is our only constant. It’s our choice to make it a sanctuary and to share that with others✨

When’s the last time you let yourself be happy? Childlike savoring the moment joy?

You deserve to enjoy all the little moments in your life. You deserve to have fun and play. When things are going well for you, do you actually let things be good? Or do you look for the next thing to obtain? The little things that aren’t to expectation? Sometimes it seems hard to let go and just enjoy.

Let things be good! Embrace the beauty in your life. There is always something working for you when you remember to be grateful❤️‍🔥

Gratitude is all about perspective. Looking past the road bumps to see there is still a path ahead. Waiting out the darkness because you know the light will shine🌞

If you have a hard time embracing the good in your life and find yourself looking past it, you can release and realign to get in tune with your highest self🤍

In order to balance your own energy, you have to nurture both the masculine and the feminine within yourself☯️

Working with our masculine energy gives us the structure to hold space for our feminine side. Masculine energy is the container that provides structure and discipline. Using the masculine energy, we can act on our intuition and prioritize a way of being from the feminine energy🌸

An imbalance of too much feminine energy can look like:
🌸 Being too soft spoken and not owning your voice
🌸 People pleasing
🌸 Prioritizing others over yourself
🌸 Acting on impulse rather than intuition
🌸 Resting too much
🌸 Day dreaming without acting on your dreams
🌸 Oversharing or over trusting
🌸 Giving your energy indiscriminately

Embodying the masculine energy to balance our feminine side can look like:
☯️ Planning, strategizing, and taking action toward our dreams
☯️ Only sharing energy when it builds you
☯️ Prioritizing self before giving to others
☯️ Creating structure and building routine
☯️ Remaining disciplined
☯️ Being assertive and direct when needed
☯️ Having strong boundaries

While I am drawn to the feminine energy and archetypes, I recognize the importance of balancing both energies within myself. What are some ways you honor the masculine within you?
