Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT)
We are excited to announce a new treatment we are offering for allergies!
Allergies are a result of the immune system getting confused. When it works correctly, its job is to protect you from potentially dangerous things like viruses, bacteria, and fungi, while passing over things that do not cause illness like plants, dust, insects, animals, and food. When you develop symptoms after exposure to things that aren’t dangerous, we call it an allergy. The thing you’re reacting to is the allergen. Typical symptoms are itchy nose and eyes, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, brain fog, congestion, sore throat, asthma, and eczema.
A tried-and-true method of reducing allergy severity is gradually exposing the immune system to tiny amounts of allergens in order to desensitize it. Allergy shots are a common therapy for these types of symptoms. Allergy shots work and they are safe, but they are also cumbersome and expensive. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce SLIT, an oral version of the same therapy. Trials show that SLIT is just as safe and effective as allergy shots
—no needles required!
As part of the process, we will work with you to reduce the allergen load in your home and normalize your own immune response alongside highly specific SLIT therapy for your particular allergies.
