Janice Marie Luther

Janice Marie Luther, born on February 21, 1955, in Buncombe County, NC, embraced life with a sassy charm that illuminated the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. After a long and courageous battle with an extended illness, she peacefully departed this world on December 7, 2025, in Fletcher, NC.

Janice was preceded in death by her cherished nephew and child of her heart, Michael Hayes, as well as her dear sister, Margaret Elaine Luther, and brother, Charles Frazier Luther. She was also welcomed into eternal rest by her loving parents, Jack and Edna Morris Luther, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms.

Janice dedicated many years to managing NC Cleaners, where her infectious laughter and fun-loving spirit turned mundane activities into joyful experiences. Her heart was equally devoted to her role in daycare education, where she fostered learning and laughter. Those memories of her dressing as Santa for the children at school will always bring smiles to the faces of both young and old alike, a testament to her ability to spread joy wherever she went.

An ardent lover of animals, Janice had a special affinity that seemed to transcend the ordinary. Her home was a haven for butterflies, hummingbirds, and squirrels, which she cherished deeply. Her passion for life mirrored her love for her family – her proudest accomplishments that she cherished most of all were her children and grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her beloved children, Amy Marie Towe (Davy) of Fletcher, Kristy Lynn Wilson (Matt) of Cullowhee, and Dallas John Moore (Jessica) of Canton. Her sister, Joyce Luther Ball, also survives her. In her role as a grandmother, she delighted in the lives of Joshua Towe (Hiral), Justin Towe (Whitney), Katelyn Towe, Dalton Herrell (Savannah), Zackery Wilson, Karli Moore, Kalyn Shook (Mack), and Madilyn Moore. As a great-grandmother of Corbin, C**ton, Peyton, and Canaan, who were the apples of her eye, she was also looking forward to welcoming another little one to the family. She had an unbreakable bond with Charlene Luther and Luanne Meade, and is also survived by her lifelong, steadfast friend Sherri Burrell. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have known her nurturing spirit.

A remarkable woman, Janice Marie Luther, will be forever remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering love for her family, and capacity to find joy even in the simplest moments. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.

A Celebration of Jan's Life will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers Donations be made in Jan's Memory to Sarge's Animal Shelter.

Born on April 25, 1955, in Flint, MI, Mary was a remarkable individual, known for her warm heart, adventurous spirit, and an unparalleled zest for life.

For over 30 years, Mary dedicated her talents as a computer assistant for NOAA, where she played her part in ensuring our planet's health. However, her true career was not just measured in years but in experiences cherished with family and friends. A proud veteran, she served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, carrying the values of duty and devotion into every aspect of her life.

Mary was one of a kind, a vibrant soul who found joy in the quirky and the eccentric. She embraced her passions wholeheartedly, from her love for dragons, to her fondness for rock concerts and festivals. Beside her friends, she devoured life, one delectable morsel at a time, with bacon as a favorite and chocolate cake as her last indulgence. Her friends will forever remember her infectious smile and the way she never met a stranger, turning acquaintances into cherished companions with her warm heart.

A founding member of the “LOL Gang,” Mary reveled in exploring her favorite restaurants and savored every adventure that came her way. Her spirit was bright and fun, illuminating the lives of everyone she encountered. To know Mary was to love her, a sentiment echoed by all, and those fortunate enough to call her a friend will carry the warmth of her laughter and the strength of her friendship with them always. A lifelong love of reading, especially romance novels, further revealed the deeply romantic heart she possessed.

Mary is survived by her adoring family, including her father, Von Ruddle; her children, Lisa Raplee of Asheville, Stephanie Neal (Billy) of Greenville, TN, April Cole of Titusville, FL, Cheyenne Gerringer (Shannon) of Alexander, and Amanda Gerringer of Asheville.
