On this day in U.S. Army Ranger history....
On 02 Oct. 1984: The 3rd Battalion, 75th Infantry (Ranger) was activated at Fort Benning, Georgia, and authorized 43 officers, 2 warrant officers, and 530 enlisted soldiers. The unit, whose lineage includes combat in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, stood up to flesh out the soon-to-be activated 75th Ranger Regiment. First seeing combat during Operation JUST CAUSE in 1989, 3/75th has since participated in Operation GOTHIC SERPENT and numerous deployments since 9/11.
