Lavar Jacobs opened the first Black-owned breast cancer center in Ohio, honoring his late mother, Kim Jacobs, who passed from the disease in 2009. The Kim Jacobs Breast Cancer Center in Akron provides year-round support with on-site nurses, counseling, financial assistance, and a children’s center, while serving as the hub for his nonprofit, Not Just October. Jacobs’ mission is to offer care, education, and hope to families affected by breast cancer while preserving his mother’s legacy. ❤️
