We lose 3-8% of our muscle mass every decade after 30 years old. The rate of loss continues to increase as we age. That's a substantial amount of muscle loss by the time you're 80!
Muscle is critical to our health and longevity. Increased muscle improves metabolism, boosts bone density, and reduces chronic disease risk. Less muscle means less of those benefits.
There have been INCREDIBLE advancements in modern medicine recently that now make weight loss far more accessible and achievable for us all.
But there's no magic pill for muscle...
It's still a use it or lose it game for your muscle mass over time. If you aren't active now, you don't get in some form of consistent strength training, or you don't fuel your body to support muscle synthesis, you're bound to experience a great deal of pain and discomfort as you get older. It's just a matter of time. ⌛️
I've personally watched as family members experience this. It's hard to watch a loved one struggle with constant pain and discomfort. It's even harder to live through the experience yourself.
Start strength training today so you can look back with gratitude rather than regret. If you need a plan or need support, send us a text at 309-370-8175!
