Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to start prepping for Christmas! Residents are decorating their own tree this year with ornaments that they are making. We want to make a variety of different ornaments, so we started out with these cute wooden ones that they painted. They are working morning, noon, and night, just like elves at work! We can’t wait to see our final tree decked out with handmade ornaments.

Last week, we had a visit from Jackson Polar Pups Therapy Dogs. These adorable pups were dressed up for Halloween and trotted around our facility in a dog parade. We always love when they come to visit, and we can’t wait to have them back soon. 🐾

Throughout the month of October, we celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In our facility, we set up a banner for staff and residents to write messages of encourage and love to their loved ones, past and present. Remember: Early detection is key. Get checked! 🎀

Last week, we hosted our annual Trick or Treat for our staff and families. The residents loved passing out candy and seeing the kids dressed up. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween! 👻🎃

Recently, we spent an entire week learning about New York! On Monday, we had gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches with four different cheeses. On Tuesday, we had three different bagels and three different cream cheeses to choose from. We also asked residents if they’d ever been to New York and talked about their experiences there. On Wednesday, we watched "Breakfast at Tiffany’s", which took place in New York City. On Thursday, we had a well-known New York meal, corned beef, cabbage, and carrots. For dessert, we enjoyed New York style cheesecake. To wrap up our week, we spent happy hour listening to Frank Sinatra, who performed a lot in New York City. Our residents had a great time visiting New York and learning new things.

This week, we proudly celebrate National Environmental Services Week!

At Altercare Louisville, we are grateful for our outstanding Environmental Services team; Jake, Susan, Megan, Sam, Connie, and Sharon. Your dedication keeps our facility clean, comfortable, and welcoming for our residents each day.

A special shout out to Susan, who has been part of our team for 10 years, and Connie, who has been with us for 8 years. Thank you for your years of commitment and care.

We truly appreciate each of you for the difference you make in our facility. 💙

Last week, we celebrated our August babies with a party! We had Jay Secrest come in to visit and celebrate with our residents. Everyone loves when Jay comes to visit, and he does a great job getting everyone singing and dancing along. Happy belated birthday to all of our August babies!

Recently, we had a new entertainer visit, Larry Alltop! Larry told stories with each song and made the residents smile and laugh. They were shocked to find out Larry is in his 80’s and still entertaining so well! Everyone loved having Larry visit, and we hope to have him back soon.

Last week, we had two Wizard of Oz themed days! Residents got to decorate their own “Over the Rainbow” cupcakes. Of course, we had to watch the classic movie, which was very nostalgic for the residents. We had a great time traveling down the yellow brick road! 🌈💚

Last weekend, we had a special visit from Jackson Polar Pups! They brought Hank for some pet therapy, and the residents absolutely loved it. Puppy snuggles make everything better! 🐾

A few weeks ago, we had a special visit from Terry Pacelli who came in to entertain the residents. Terry came for the monthly Birthday celebration and the residents really enjoyed hearing music from the 70’s. We can’t wait to have Terry back soon! 🎵
