Dr. Omerza received his D.D.S. and certificate in orthodontics from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy where his primary area of study was early craniofacial development. He has served in the U.S. Navy as the Orthodontic Director at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy and as the staff orthodontist for the Department of Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a member of the AAO, ADA, ODA, and NEODS and the Stark County Dental Society. Dr. Omerza has lectured nationally and internationally. He has taught orthodontics at the University of Illinois - Chicago, and has served on the review board for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Omerza is a native of northeast Ohio and currently resides in Willoughby Hills with his wife (a Canton Native) and their children. A graduate John Carroll University ’81, Dr. Omerza served in the US Navy overseas as staff orthodontist for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. He earned a Ph.D. while studying Craniofacial Development with the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Ohio State University Graduate College. On finishing his active duty tour with the US Navy he returned home to Willoughby Hills / Mentor area to work with his long time friend and mentor Hudson D. Dr. Omerza stays on the cutting edge of the profession by attending orthodontic seminars across the United States
