The only thing standing in your way… is you.
Not your age.
Not your schedule.
Not your genetics.

It’s your hesitation.
Your doubts.
Your insecurities.
Your excuses.

This isn’t you vs. anyone else.
It’s you vs. you.

So get out of your own way.
You are capable of more than you think.

Labor Induction: What It Is & What to Expect

Labor induction means starting labor with medical support when continuing the pregnancy may no longer be the safest option for mom, baby—or both. It’s common, evidence-based, and often thoughtfully planned.

Why labor might be induced
• Pregnancy past due date
• High blood pressure or preeclampsia
• Diabetes or other medical conditions
• Low amniotic fluid
• Concerns about baby’s growth or well-being
• Water breaks but labor doesn’t start

How labor is induced
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Your provider chooses methods based on your body and your baby:
• Cervical ripening: medications or a balloon catheter to soften and open the cervix
• Oxytocin (Pitocin): helps start or strengthen contractions
• Amniotomy: breaking the water when appropriate

Sometimes more than one method is used—and sometimes patience is part of the plan.

What to expect
• Induction can take hours to a couple of days, especially if the cervix isn’t ready
• Continuous monitoring helps ensure safety
• Pain management options are available and individualized
• Many inductions lead to healthy vaginal births

The bottom line
Labor induction isn’t “taking the easy way out” or “forcing labor.”
It’s about balancing risks, timing, and safety—and making decisions together with your care team.

✨ Questions are always welcome. An informed patient is an empowered patient.

Hello, February ❤️❤️🤍🤍

A month often associated with love — and a perfect reminder that one of the most important places to start is with how we care for ourselves.

Loving your body looks like:
• nourishing it well
• moving it regularly
• prioritizing sleep and recovery
• managing stress
• choosing habits that protect your long-term health

At its core, preventive care is an act of love.

And having a healthcare team that supports healthy interventions, encourages sustainable lifestyle changes, and partners with you in prevention makes all the difference. True care isn’t just about treating illness — it’s about empowering health.

This February, let love show up as:
• consistency over perfection
• small daily choices that compound over time
• evidence-based guidance
• a healthcare team invested in your long-term well-being

Because caring for your health is one of the most meaningful ways to show yourself love — and you deserve a team that walks that journey with you.

Happy February. Choose health. Choose prevention. Choose care. ❤️🤍

Just one decision away from a different life.
One choice. One habit. One brave yes.

The life we live isn’t built in a single moment—it’s shaped quietly by the decisions we make every day. What we choose to do when it’s inconvenient. What we choose to prioritize when no one’s watching. Those small, ordinary choices? They compound into health, strength, resilience, and joy… or they don’t.

You don’t have to change everything.
You just have to choose one thing today that moves you closer to the life you want to live.

As we wrap up the first month of the new year, I want to pause and check in.

Not just about January —
but about the next 11 months…
and the next 11 years.

Because real health is not built in 30 days.
It’s built by the habits you’re willing to repeat long after motivation fades.

So let’s make sure these foundations are still in place:

• You’re waking up and putting on your tracking device
• You’re tracking your steps daily
• You’ve made 7,500 steps a non-negotiable
• You’re starting your day with 30 grams of protein
• You’re working toward 100+ grams of protein per day
• You’re strength training to maintain and build muscle

These are not “January habits.”
These are lifetime habits.

You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to stay consistent.

Health isn’t something you chase once a year.
It’s something you practice — every day.

Let’s keep going.

✨ The Fourth Trimester Matters — More Than We Talk About ✨

We spend 40 weeks preparing for birth…
And then somehow expect women to bounce back the moment the baby arrives.

💡 The fourth trimester — the 12 weeks after delivery — is a critical window for a mother’s health. Yes, your newborn needs you. But your body needs you too.

❤️ Heart health is a HUGE part of the fourth trimester. Pregnancy is often described as a cardiovascular stress test — and conditions like high blood pressure and preeclampsia don’t magically disappear once the baby is born.

If you had:
• High blood pressure in pregnancy
• Preeclampsia
• Gestational hypertension

➡️ The fourth trimester is more important than ever for follow-up, monitoring, and long-term prevention.

🏥 Northside Hospital leads the way in recognizing that postpartum care doesn’t end at delivery — it’s about protecting women’s health for years to come.

📖 Please read this article. Be informed. Advocate for yourself. Because caring for your baby starts with caring for you.

✨ Healthy mom = healthy family.

When people think about pregnancy care, most are familiar with the three traditional trimesters. However, an often-overlooked phase — the fourth trimester — plays a critical role in a woman’s long-term health, particularly when it comes to cardiovascular disease.
