Standing Split aka Urdhva Prasarita Eka Padasana challenges balance, focus, and surrender. This pose asks us “Where in your life can you soften as you reach higher? Can you breathe into the wobble and expand your comfort zone?”

To find your strength in this pose:

Root through your standing leg • Soften the upper body • Let the lifted leg rise with ease, not force.

ALIGNMENT TIP: Standing Split is a CLOSED HIP pose. The frontal hip point should face either down at the mat (if your leg is more parallel to the mat with toes pointed at the floor) or at the back short edge of the mat (if the leg is lifted higher toward the ceiling.

BALANCE CHALLENGE: To challenge the balance even more, wrap one or both hands around the ankle of the standing leg.
