Backdoor Counseling is a general practice providing a wide variety of mental health counseling and therapeutic services for patients of all ages from children through adults. Tara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a licensed Florida foster parent, an Internationally certified transgender therapist, and is nationally certified in a wide variety of therapies. Tara received her Bachelor's in Psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1996 and her Master's in Community Counseling at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2001. she received her Licensing as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in 2005 and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree with a projected graduation date in 2018. Tara's professional experiences include teaching at a university level and providing a wide variety of counseling to different populations such as: HIV/AIDS, Child Welfare, Special Needs, Family and Children, Hospice, Grief and Loss, LGBTQ+, ADHD, SIB, PTSD, Suicidal Ideation, Adolescents, and Couples. She lives by the motto that seeking therapy is a positive life goal and not because "something is wrong with them".
