I look at many, many stool tests and the most common result is low secretory IgA. This is a protein that lives in and around the GI lining, when it presents as low it means the lining is inflamed and likely damaged.

If your skin needs moisturizing, it's probable that your gut lining does too. My favorite way boost the mucosal layer of the GI tract, which is crucial to its integrity, is by drinking marshmallow tea. I get mine from Mountain Rose Herbs.

Only had 15 minutes for lunch: slice sourdough toast (toast takes extra minutes, but worth the minutes) slice of swiss, hummus from the new Turkish spot up the street (good find, tastes lemony) tJ’s sauerkraut (inclusive of pickles, thumbs up tJ’s), couple sliced tomatoes (bc summer! Tomatoes all day) and more drizzled olive oil then I care to admit

My girl has an awful stomach bug, check out these healing tips:
Applesauce - I made a quick apple mousse out of two apples and added a little ginger powder. If the runs are really bad, a teaspoon of psyllium husk blends right in and works with the pectins in applesauce to thicken stool.

Banana ice cream - appetite is minimal at best. We know bananas are binding and have potassium that likely needs replenishing, so a quick freeze of sliced bananas will make for some banana ice cream later. A sprinkle of nutmeg will also help settle the stomach.

Marshmallow tea - marshmallow root is high in mucilage, it’s going to help soothe intestinal lining inflammation that’s really giving pain right now. It’s naturally sweet, kids tend to like it. Simmer for 10 minutes, strain and serve.

This is my fave breakfast right now… spelt pumpkin muffin (can sub in a slice of sourdough or some avocado or even a slice of sweet potato) with a scoop of cottage cheese, a drizzle of tahini some blue Bs and pomegranate. It’s a small portion but with all the macros and some fiber. X!
