Hereās your chance to do something good in this crazy world. All I ask is you read and share this post with an open heart and mind....š
The woman on the right is my Aunt Micky. She has a loving and generous heart, and an infectious laugh. She also hates to ask for favors. Iām going to do that for her here. This particular photo marks our 10th ākidney-versary.ā Her brother (Dad) used to love seeing us together, so that he could say, āNow I get to see all of my daughter in one place.ā š. I felt honored and blessed to have been able to give her such a gift.
It has now been nearly 15 years, and that kidney is failing. Not because of anything Aunt Micky didāI know sheās taken better care of that kidney than I have the other one. Unfortunately, she is back on the transplant list, along with over 100,000 other people. A live donor provides better longevity and outcomes for recepients, but only 6,000 living donors step forward each year. Contrast that with the 4,000 people who die while waiting on the transplant list.
I am the walking embodiment of a living donor who has thrived since donation. If there is anyone out there who might consider being a donor, Iām always happy to talk you though the process. Also, the National Kidney Foundation has a wealth of information for donors and their families. You can find that information at https://www.kidney.org
Maybe you have a family member whose life was saved by a transplant. Maybe you feel God is asking you to give in a big way, but up until now, you didnāt know what you were called to do. Whatever the reason, the woman next to me in this photo deserves for her story to continue. I am humbly asking you for your consideration, prayers, and help spreading the word about her story. š
