On Monday our Veterans had the privilege of visiting the Missouri National Veterans Memorial in Perryville, MO. They enjoyed a very educational tour and a wonderful lunch. Thank you to the American Legion Auxiliary #133 for providing the wonderful fried chicken, sides, and desserts and thank you to the Missouri National Veterans Memorial for opening early for us and giving us a private tour.

Veterans Day is right around the corner and that means it is time for our Day of Honor signs! Every Veterans Day we place 24"x18" yard signs around the front of our building for our Veterans and the communities enjoyment. These signs are a fantastic way to honor your Veteran. This is open to ANY Veteran. Cost of the sign is $60 and you may contact Kristen Pind at kristen.pind@mvc.dps.mo.gov or 573-986-4040 for more information. If you have a sign from a previous year we would love to place it in the line up for a $10 donation to the Cape Girardeau Veterans Home Foundation. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF A NEW SIGN IS FRIDAY! Any submission after Friday cannot be guaranteed a sign by Veterans Day.

This week our staff got to enjoy Zim Zala Vibes food truck curtesy of the family of one of our Veterans. Night shift was treated to hot and fresh breakfast sandwiches when they got off shift and day and evening shift were served their choice of burger, philly cheesesteak, fish, or chicken tacos with side. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed their food. Thank you to our Veteran's family for honoring his memory by supporting our staff.

Our staff participated in Pink October to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by breast cancer. 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. In 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. When caught in it's early stages breast cancer has a 99% survival rate. That is why awareness of the facts and statistics surrounding breast cancer is key in empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and why our team brought awareness by wearing pink. You too can raise awareness by wearing pink in October, join us!
