Today, we pause to recognize the very real and ongoing dangers of fentanyl and the lives lost to it. Fentanyl is incredibly potent, and just a small amount can be deadly. But knowledge saves lives. 🩡

By learning the risks, recognizing signs of an overdose, and talking openly with those we care about, we can make a difference. Education and prevention are key tools in this fight, and every conversation counts.

This week our CEO, John Gary and Director of Clinical Research, Ashley Naeger visiting the campus of the The National Institute on Drug Abuse - NIDA for the Clinical Trial Network Annual Scientific and Steering Committee Meeting in Bethesda, MD.

Ashley Naeger served as a featured panelist for a session titled "Under the Hood: Research Staff Perspectives on What Makes and Sustains a Great Study Team." The presentation highlighted our organizations "on-the-ground" expertise in managing complex clinical protocols. The discussion focused on the practical mechanics of building high-performance research teams, navigating the challenges of participant recruitment and retention, and the essential team dynamics required to bring national research evidence into clinical practice. By participating in this national dialogue, our agency continues to ensure that the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change remains at the forefront of clinical excellence and data-driven care for our community.

What if we could improve outcomes for people starting their recovery journey? Our team is proud to be part of a national clinical study, recently featured in Rolling Stone, that is exploring a new approach to opioid addiction recovery.

We are researching the impact of a GLP-1 medication (tirzepatide) used alongside standard medication-assisted treatment. Researchers are studying whether this combination can help individuals stay in treatment and improve their overall recovery outcomes. We are excited to bring this level of national research to our local community!

More than 100,000 people die every year from opioid overdoses β€” and some believe the new class of drugs could help save those lives
