Kennedy began her journey in behavior analysis at SIUC in 2018, earning her bachelor’s in 2021, her master’s in 2024, and becoming board certified in 2025. Born and raised in Southern Illinois, she is thrilled to continue serving her home community as a behavior consultant.

Kennedy’s professional values—integrity, evidence-based practice, compassion, and collaboration—align beautifully with our mission. She is committed to honoring each client’s dignity, encouraging independence, and supporting growth through ethical and individualized care.

Did you know that sometimes positive life events can still add stress for our clients?

The Holmes-Rahe Stress Inventory isn’t a behavior analytic tool, but it offers a powerful perspective: big life changes — even the good ones — can increase irritability and spill over into increases in inappropriate behaviors.

For example:

-Moving to a new home (yay!) can still feel overwhelming when routines get disrupted.

-Starting a new job (exciting!) also means navigating new expectations, people, and schedules.

-Even a vacation (fun!) can add stress through travel, packing, and being out of familiar environments.

-Losing a job can create uncertainty that shows up in daily mood and coping.

-Conflict with a friend or romantic partner can weigh heavily and increase emotional strain.

For our clients, these hidden stressors can sometimes show up as irritability or even increases in the behaviors they are trying to reduce. Looking through this lens helps us pause before jumping to conclusions — and reminds us that growth often comes with an adjustment curve.

If you’re curious, you can even try the tool yourself. It might just give you perspective on your own stress level and inspire some self-care and extra empathy for those around you!
