The SIU Healthcare clinic was established in 1978 at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. We are pleased you have chosen SIU Healthcare as your medical home. SIU Healthcare is a group of family physicians that are trained to care for the entire family. We are concerned with each family member's total well-being. We believe that taking care of the entire family helps us better to understand each member. In addition, we are an accredited Family Medicine Residency which means we train physicians to be Family Medicine specialists with an emphasis on health care needs regardless of your age or gender. Emphasis is placed on patient education and prevention of illness. SIU Family Physicians clinic is staffed by qualified doctors (MD's & PA-C's) who have chosen their specialty certification in Family Medicine. You and your family will be assigned to one physician. This may be a resident physician or a faculty physician. A resident physician is a medical school graduate who is a licensed physician in the State of Illinois and is seeking advanced training in Family Medicine. A faculty physician is a specialist in Family Medicine. You will be seen by your assigned family physician at all possible times. Alternatively, you may be seen by another team physician who shares calls with your doctor. However, you may be assured that we will make every effort to provide you care with a physician you know.

๐Ÿš˜ Make sure your windshield wipers are not worn and be sure to check all of the vehicleโ€™s fluid levels.
๐Ÿš˜ Check to make sure your tires are properly inflated and that they have sufficient tread.
๐Ÿš˜ Always keep your gas tank at least two-thirds full. If you get stranded, you want to be sure you have enough gas to keep your vehicle running to stay warm.
๐Ÿš˜ Dress warmly for the weatherโ€”dress in layers of loose-fitting, lightweight clothing in anticipation of unexpected winter weather emergencies.
๐Ÿš˜ Always carry an emergency car care kit that contains jumper cables, flares or reflectors, windshield washer fluid, a small ice scraper, traction material, blankets, non-perishable food, water, and a first aid kit.
๐Ÿš˜ Make sure someone is aware of your travel route.
๐Ÿš˜ Always carry a cell phone and charger.
We hope you're never in an emergency situation, but it is by far better to be prepared in case!
